Objective
The National Mediation Competition was organized with the following objectives:
a.   This competition was organized to train students in Mediation as Mediation is getting popularity in India now and that need to develop skill in young generation.
b.   To carry out in depth exercise to develop the ability of students to mediate in complex cases and make them understand at this grassroot level the importance of time, money and the win situation of both the parties.
c.    To develop the skills and roles of mediators and to make the participants understand the complexities arriving out of mediation.
d.   To bring the awareness in youth for mediation as important tool to resolve disputes.

Recognitions & Awards
  1. He is a fourth generation Lawyer, is an alumni of Rajasthan University Jaipur, having acquired his Degree in Law in the year 1978.  He also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights.  He was commissioned in the Judge Advocate General’s Department of the Indian Army on 30 August 1980.
  2. An astute and result oriented Army General, he rendered ‘Judicial Service’ of nearly 35 years in Military Justice System.  While serving in the Indian Army, he developed abilities to conceptualize, develop and execute plans that require precise actions and utilization of available resources.  He has tremendous experience in the domain of legal and judicial functioning, General Administration and Legal Training.  As Judge Advocate General (JAG), he was the legal advisor to Chief of the Army Staff on all disciplinary matters, service conditions, issues involving application of Civil, Military and International Laws and entire litigation relating to the Army.  General Sharma was in the Raising Team of the Institute of Military Law, Kamptee (now shifted to New Delhi), a premier Category ‘A’ Institute, the only one of its kind in Asia, training Officers of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, BSF and even foreign Armies, in the field of Law. He superannuated as the Judge Advocate General (JAG) of the 1.4 million strong Indian Army on 31 May 2015 and joined as Director Amity Law School, Gurugram on 01 Sep 2015.
  3. As Director Amity Law School, he has endeavored to bring up the nascent institute at par with leading Law Schools across the country.  General P.K Sharma has ensured academic excellence among the students and research-oriented attitude in the Law School.

The criteria was to invite experts of Mediation and ADR from India and abroad. The experts who are already into either practice of Mediation or in research on mediation were called as guests in the events to get the expert tips.
      Attendees:
The participant of Mediation (72) in number & the faculty of Amity Law School
‘Take Homes’ for the Guests and the Attendees in the form of knowledge, facts, information.
  1. It has created awareness towards the importance and benefits of mediation over litigation.
  2. It gave the audience an exposure to how we can enter into mediation to avoid the prolong court process. 
  3. It helped in identifying the mediation skills if anyone possess and if not the ways ahead to develop these qualities.
  4. Helped in knowing more career prospects in ADR and Mediation specially as still the prospects in mediation are not visible to young generation. 
  5. Students developed the negotiation skills through mediation which is basically part and parcel of quality mediation.
  6.  Helped in developing international prospects in mediation.
     Tangible Gains for the Faculty, Researchers and Students of Amity.
  1. As ALS is only Law School in MP having Mediation Cell, therefore this will popularize our Centre to get more cases for mediation.
  2. Students came to know the ways how to develop career as a Mediator. They are able to find the opportunities arising out of international prospects.
  3. Students learnt and understood about overall system of Alternate Dispute Resolution. They sharpen their skills of negotiation, expressions, critical evaluation, mediation and handling the delicate matters.
  4. Students learnt to manage a big event with a strength of more than 300 guests and sixteen rooms at online platform. 
  5. Mediation helped in gathering school and University students from various cities. This will help in showcasing our University specially among the school students which helps in increasing admission in AUMP.
  6. It helped in building confidence and leadership skills of students by way of organizing such a big event, by interacting people for participation. It helped in developing relations with other institutions.
  7. Mediation are opportunities to practice research, public speaking, teamwork, negotiation, in a safe and structured environment.” 
  8. Amity University Madhya Pradesh is looking forward to collaborating in terms of research and other aspects of academics through the guest.
  9. The guest speaker also agreed to support in terms of research papers and articles in conference and seminars.
  10. The students may write to the speaker for any queries and question related to the topic and the speaker will guide them with the answers.
    Followed-Up with the Guests to Consider Various Collaborations 
Post event plan to follow-up with guest and his association with National University of Singapore for various things like:
  • Research Collaboration
  • Association in Seminar and Conferences
  •  Memorandum of Understanding
  • Internships and Placements 
  • Projects related to ADR

 And many more.

 

 Plans for utilizing the contacts developed with the Invited Guests, for future cooperation to meet the targets of ‘Mission: Connect’ and Mission: Synergy of Brains.

  1.  MoU is already signed between Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution and ALS.
  2.   We shall be inviting the guest for our conferences and seminars within the first six months of the event.
  3.  Opportunities for ADR collaborations between AUMP and the speakers’ organization will be explored within the first 3-4 months of the event.
  4.  We plan to invite the guests in our campus in Gwalior for offline future events.
  5. Mission: Connect’ and Mission: Synergy of Brains will be achieved by collaborating on various seminars and conferences. More discussion underway for collaborative research work.
