 Amity University Madhya Pradesh organises International E - Conference on ‘Digital Humanities in 21st Century: Emerging Trends & Future Prospects’ on 28th January 2022

A one-day International E-Conference on ‘Digital Humanities in the 21st Century: Emerging Trends & Future Prospects’ was organised by - Amity School of Social Sciences and Amity School of Communication, AUMP, in collaboration with DHARTI (Digital Humanities Alliance for Research and Teaching Innovations). The conference was organised online using Zoom Platform on 28th January 2022.
The conference commenced with the opening address by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, AUMP. Five key-note speakers were invited for the event: Prof (Dr) Sharmishtha Roy Department of History, Queens College City University of New York, USA; Dr Bilkisu Maijama’a Nasarawa State University, Keffi Nasarawa State, Nigeria, Africa; Dr Dibyadyuti Roy Assistant Professor, Department of HSS, Digital Humanities Division, School of Management, IIT Jodhpur; Dr Maya Dodd, Faculty FLAME University, Pune, Maharashtra; and Dr Nirmala Menon, Associate Professor, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT, Indore. The key-note speakers gave extensive lectures on Digital Humanities, its influence on other discourses, namely, Humanities courses, tools, new trends, and topics for research. One technical session was organized in which more than fifteen research scholars and faculty members presented their papers.
The conference was attended by more than 500 students from AUMP and AUM. All participants were given e-certificates. To commemorate the event the edited book of the Conference was released online, and virtual mementoes were presented to the key-note speakers.
Concluding remarks were presented by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, AUMP, and the vote-of-thanks was proposed by Prof. (Dr) Sumit Narula.
The event was honoured with the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and the Hon’ble Pro-Vice-Chancellor, higher dignitaries, and faculty members.
The event was convened by Prof. (Dr) Iti Roychowdhury, Director, Amity Institute of Social Sciences, and Dr Sumit Narula, Dy. Dean Research (P&C) and Director, Amity School of Communication, AUMP.
The E-Conference provided a platform for experts, academicians, and researchers to present their innovative and constructive ideas at an international level on the use of digital technologies and tools for traditional humanities inquiry. It motivated the researchers and audience on the importance of developing networks of scholars and educators ready to co-create, collaborate, share digital works. It discussed innovative digital pedagogy and new possibilities for education. It provided knowledge on the techniques to generate research and disseminate knowledge about digital humanities among the intelligentsia. Overall, the E-Conference provided a platform to critically discuss digital humanities projects in light of current methods and theoretical approaches to the field.
