Celebrates 74th Independence Day on 15th August 2020

 

 

Amity University Madhya Pradesh celebrated the 74th Independence Day of the Country with patriotic fervour and spirit on 15th August 2020 virtually amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and remembered the martyrs and the freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country.

 

The festivity commenced with the virtual hoisting of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor AUMP, Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) which filled all the students, faculty and staff of AUMP with immense pride. This was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. The Tri-colour was also hoisted in the AUMP campus by the Chief Proctor & Director Hostels Brig Rajesh Gangele with the students, faculty and staff residing in the hostel.

 

Addressing the students, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd) urged the students to work hard with honesty and integrity for contributing towards Self-reliant India as hard work is the only key to success. He stressed upon the need to become physically and mentally strong for strong Nation building. Hon’ble VC also gave the mantra of “Shikshit Bharat, Salsham Bharat” to the students.

Hon’ble VC stressed upon the importance of research and innovation in a student’s life. He further opined that our students are quite capable of controlling their anger, greed jealousy and ego for a strong character.He also motivated everyone to rededicate themselves to the nation.

 

On this occasion when patriotism has found a new digital expression, the website of Centre for Detection of Fake News and Disinformation at AUMP was inaugurated by the Hon’ble VC Lt. Gen. V.K. Sharma, AVSM (Retd). This Centre has been established for Detection of Fake news/videos/audios/pictures on social media/print/ electronic media. It also liaises with agencies like Google News Initiative, Poynter with know-how and methodology for Detection of Fake News.

 

Keeping up the spirit of patriotism high patriotic songs and poems were recited by Devanshu Sharma, Anushka Singh, Tanvi Saxena and Mansi Srivastava, the students of AUMP.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon’ble VC, Pro VC, Deputy Pro-VC, Registrar, Deans, Directors, HoIs, HoDs, faculty, staff members and the students of AUMP. The virtual celebration of Independence day kept the students and faculty connected and provided them an opportunity to celebrate this auspicious occasion together with fervent zeal and enthusiasm.
