“Recent Reforms in Juvenile Justice Law in India”

 Mr. Rupinder Singh IG Police ( IB ) Rajasthan in his guest lecture on “Recent Reforms in Juvenile Justice Law in India” discussed in detail and explained various provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. He discussed various dimensions of recent Juvenile Justice Act 2015 including the various reasons for enactment of new act. He further elaborated on the concept of juvenile who is in conflict with law and regarding child who is in need of care and protection. The international laws pertaining to the age of juvenile and process through which juvenile in conflict with law will be prosecuted and punished. Special focus on child between the age group of 16-18 committing heinous offences was discussed in detail with special reference to Nirbhya case.

He also emphasized on the rehabilitation and various methods of rehabilitation of child in conflict with law in order to bring them into the main stream of the society and child in need of care and protection. Various queries raised by Law students was resolved through practical examples. The guest speaker also highlighted various case examples in support of the laws and narrated various instances from his personal experience. Overall it was very fruitful and knowledgeable session which gave insight to various legal concepts related with Reforms in Juvenile Justice Law in India.
