Covid-19 is a highly transmissible and pathogenic viral disease and is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). As per the reports, the sight of origin of the outbreak of this pneumonia-like disease has been identified as wet market of Wuhan, Hubei province of China. World Livestock 2013 report of United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reports that 70% of the novel pathogens/diseases emerging in humans are zoonoti in nature. Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Kumar Arora delivered talk about key reservoirs and mode of transmission of corona viruses. Important environmental factors contributing to emerging zoonoses and various control strategies were also discussed.
