Amity School of Communication (ASCO) and Amity Film School (AFS), Mumbai organised quite an engrossing, highly interactive and engaging ‘120'-minute Webinar on "THE KEY CONCEPTS OF CINEMATOGRAPHY" with Indian Film Industries HIGHLY Acclaimed Ace Cinematographer Mr. ANIL MEHTA himself, which was moderated by Dr. Nima Jerrit John (Officiating HOI, ASCO, AUM). The Students and faculty of Amity University, showcased multiple short films as a compliment to the works of Mr. Anil Mehta and participated whole heartedly in asking pertinent questions of the modern day challenges to the guest Speaker.
The webinar received a fabulous response as it was attended by audience from across the country.
Addressing the young students, Mr. Mehta said “Cinematography is not just an art of moving pictures but a process of decision making. Micro events and Macro details complete a film.”
Filmmaking is a collaborative work. It is coming together of people from various streams. “One’s contribution has to be a high order of skill.”
When asked what influenced his works he added “Everything that happens in your life has a bearing on the kind of work you do. It is like being like an open page and let everything around you inform you, hence be present, be aware, to observe and absorb.”
He answered several queries of students on various aspects of cinematography and its part in filmmaking. He advised that “Do not shift your focus and stay calm even through the stressful moments that cinematography demands and opined on the current pandemic scenario that you could go out and learn to work around it but the precautions must be taken, no matter what, as the pandemic is perhaps endemic, so learn to deal with it, work is also essential”
Dr. Nima J. John (Officiating Head of Institution, Amity School of Communication, Amity Film School and Amity School of Animation, AUM) moderated the session, and it was attended by students and faculties across domains.
“Practice make you perfect as on field is a different ball game” she emphasizes, as she addresses the student’s fraternity on various aspects of cinematography and filmmaking. She also adds that be consistent and determined along with your studies; then you can achieve the results. She also advised that “A lot of Cinematography is INTUTION, It is an ART form and not a FORMULA and the results are born, instead it is a constant exercise of creative skills, further stated to be curious by broadening your horizons and ‘carpe diem’ is the key word.
Be aware, Be alive take the pleasure of the moment and give it your 100%.”
