Amity School of Fashion Technology (ASFT), Amity University Mumbai organised a study tour to Jaipur for B.Des Semester 6 students, as part of the experiential learning.
The visit provided students with direct exposure to India’s rich craft heritage, architectural history, and traditional production systems that continue to influence contemporary fashion and design practices. The students visited City Palace and Amer Fort (Historical Monuments and architectural design), Nila House (Heritage spaces used for Craft Revival), Blue Pottery Unit (Traditional Craft).
The highlight of the Study Tour was the visit to Bagru, a small village near Jaipur, known for Block printing by the Chippa community. The students participated in a hands-on Dabbo-printing workshop at the printing unit of Shri Ram Kishore Ji, a Padmashree award winning artisan. This session enabled students to understand traditional resist-dye techniques, natural dye processes, and the discipline required in craft-based production systems.
This study tour reinforced ASFT’s commitment to experiential pedagogy, ensuring that students engage with design not only as creators but as responsible custodians of cultural heritage.
