Amity University Mumbai Students Participated In Green Design Project

A “Green Design Project” was conducted by Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai in association with Maharshi  Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha’s School of Fashion Technology, Pune on 26th September 2019 at Sophia campus, Mumbai. A pre-launch conference on “leading Sustainability through collaboration and Co-Creation” was initiated on this day. 160 participants registered for the contest and of which 10 were shortlisted for the final round. Two of our students; Ms. Aksshaya Vienkat and Ms. Sejal Thakur were shortlisted for the final presentation. Sejal Vijay Thakur won the 1st prize in “Green Design Project”. A display of the design concept and articles were put up for showcase in the conference and fashion show exhibition. The jury members were Jagdeep Shokeen [Creative Direction, Brand Management Product Innovation Eastman Exports Global Clothing), Mr. Rahul Bhajekar [Managing Director of Global Organic Textiles Standard],Mr. V R Sai Ganesh [ General manager & Business development – Dystar ], Mr. Sudhir Soundalgelkar – [ Director, Projects at Raymond Limited]and Mr. Kumar Rajagopalan – [ CEO, Retailers Association of India]

Her theme ‘Maharashtra Chi Chindi’ stressed upon the importance of arts and crafts of Maharashtra and its considerable share in the sustainable fashion movement in India’s market. The spur of this project was to make people aware about the significance of recycling & reusing and showcasing eminence of Sustainability in the Fashion Industry and the future of the world. This also helped create employment opportunities for the women of rural Maharashtra (Alibaug).
