Amity University Jharkhand in collaboration with Nirmala College, Ranchi hosted a UGC Sponsored 2-Day National Webinar on Understanding the Tribal Religion and Culture with special reference to Jharkhand

Amity University Jharkhand during this pandemic is taking genuine initiatives in organizing online education, admission webinars, guest lectures, FDPs etc. Continuing this trend Amity University Jharkhand hosted, a UGC Sponsored 2-Day National Webinar in collaboration with Nirmala College, Ranchi, wherein renowned speakers and professors of various universities addressed the topic “Tribal Religion and Culture with special reference to Jharkhand”. The webinar was scheduled from 3rd June to 4th June 2020. The participants and beneficiaries were scholars, academicians, faculty members, students (PG, M.Phil) and researchers in the field of tribal studies.

The objective of the webinar was to train students and serious researchers in executing field studies in the tribal areas of Jharkhand. It also aimed to impart profound knowledge regarding the latest works done in the field and provide detailed information about those areas in which more research is required to understand tribal life, its vagaries and its evolution in due course of time.

On the first day of the Webinar various details about the Jharkhand tribes related to their culture, origin and ethnicity ,customs and practices were discussed by Prof.(Dr.) Padmaja Sen,( Former Professor and Head, University Department of Philosophy, Kolhan University , Chaibasa) and Dr. Radhika Borde,(Senior Researcher, Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University, Prague) .

Second day of the webinar was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Sharan , (Former Vice- Chancellor, Vinova Bhave University, Hazaribag & Professor University Department of Ranchi University) and  Dr. Santosh Kiro( Assistant professor, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, St.Xavier’s College Ranchi).This was followed by further discussions on the various aspects of tribal life and the various areas where researches can be done to improve their plight.

The Webinar facilitated the understanding of the policy-makers in relation to the religious and cultural aspects of the tribal life so that they can come up with more tribal-friendly policies. Thus the webinar proved to extremely fruitful and knowledgeable for all those who attended.
