The Department of Education, Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences organized Scouts and Guides camp from 5th March to 9th March 2007. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Amity University and Executive Senior Vice President RBEF, Maj. Gen. K. Jai Singh amidst a vibrant ceremony. The objective of the Scouts and Guides training is to inculcate in the trainees the abilities and skills to equip them to face challenges of life and career.

The Scouts and Guides camp is one of the essential activities of B. Ed. Training Programme. It aims at development of character and confidence in the youth of the nation. The activities are designed as to develop a versatile personality and to acquire useful skills to handle the advertise in a refined way. The activities included tying different types of knots, callisthenics, different types of claps and yells. The activities like first – aid, map – reading, hiking, spot – painting, cooking without utensils and tent pitching instill various life skills equipping them to face challenges of life with confidence and increase their resourcefulness.

A gala valedictory ceremony was organized to conclude this five day camp. The trainees presented an exuberant cultural programme which heightened the spirits of all present. A quiz on the theme of Scouts and Guides was also conducted. Eminent dignitaries present included Dr. R.P. Kathuria, Prof. of Education (Retd.), NCERT, himself, an enthusiastic scouter congratulated trainees for being trained in the centenary year. He shared his vast knowledge about scouting and his personal reflection and experiences as a scouter with the trainees and all the eminent personalities like Prof. B.B. Dhar, Director, Amity Academic Staff College, Dr.(Ms.) Balvinder Shukla, Director General, Amity Business School and Ms. Reva Raina, Head Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences who were sitting on the dais. Ms. Sandhya Vidhuri, District Organizing Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides was the master trainer of the camp.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of badges to the Scouts and Guiders the honours were done jointly by Prof. Kathuria and Prof. B.B. Dhar.
