Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

Cancer is the leading cause of death in developed countries and second leading cause of death in developing countries. According to a recent estimates published in India, around 5,55,000 people died of cancer in 2010. Although, for the last four to five decades, hundreds of laboratories have been working globally to find solutions both via basic and translational science, the incidence of various cancers is still increasing. Therefore, a lot of work needs to be done to cure/manage cancer. While there are various options for the treatment of cancer including Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy, Targeted Therapies, Surgery, Stem Cell Transplantation etc., but many disadvantages are associated with available treatment options such as cost intensive, several side effects, multi drug resistance etc. An alternative approach is chemoprevention for the control and management of cancers which can overcome the above mentioned disadvantages. Most of the cancers are originated due to environmental factors and almost 2/3rd cancer cases are preventable if detected early.

The quantum of cancer patients strongly indicates towards the need for further intense research for prevention and treatment of cancer. Therefore, Amity Center for Cancer Epidemiology and Cancer Research (ACCECR) and Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB) along with co-organizers from USA-
  • University of Colorado Denver, USA
  • University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, USA
  • University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, USA
are organizing a two-day International Symposium on “Frontiers in Cancer Research: Prevention to Therapeuticson November 15–16, 2013, at Amity University Uttar Pradesh, NOIDA.

The main purpose of this symposium is to explore the current status of various types of cancer and treatment options available to the patients. This symposium will also discuss pathogenesis and means of cancer prevention, along with experiences of basic scientists and clinicians actively engaged in treating this disease.

The deliberation of experts during the symposium will be informative and useful for common people as well as for those who would like to develop awareness about cancer and keep themselves abreast with the latest development in the field. This symposium will provide an excellent opportunity for students as well as young scientists to interact with experts which will be helpful in advancing their knowledge as well as collaborative research.

We are looking forward for your active participation in making this symposium a great success.
