About Amity Institute of Microbial Technology (AIMT), Noida

The Amity Institute of Microbial Technology (AIMT) was established in September 2004. AIMT aims at excellence in performance, committed to providing quality educational opportunities and services that meet or exceed the needs of learners, industry/business and our community. AIMT is now supported by Department of Science & Technology (DST) under Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure (DST-FIST) to rebuild the Science & Technology infrastructure in the country. AIMT has most modern infrastructural facilities including practical labs fully devoted for teaching M.Sc and B.Sc students, two research labs for carrying out the research projects and specialized labs for plant tissue culture, greenhouse, controlled environment plant/ microbes growth chambers, biochemical analysis, cryo- facility and facilities to carry out molecular studies etc. Apart from routine basic equipment’s needed for teaching and research, the labs are equipped with state-of-the art instruments like confocal microscopy (supported by DST-FIST), HPLC, PCR, Gel documentation unit, Bio-reactor etc.

Genesis of Colloquium

In the present scenario, there is revolution of iconoclastic technology to cure the things by deploying synthetic biology along with genome editing. Emerging technologies for re-writing the genes e.g. CRISPR, RNAi, Prime editing etc. are on the minds of mankind all around the world because of its extreme potential to alter the defected gene for the benign living population on our planet. Researchers have been editing DNA since ages already and have come out with magnificent results, but novel mechanisms have to be invented to make the process relatively easy, fast and more powerful. In the recent time certain enzymes like Zinc Finger Nucleases were used primarily for editing the gene and currently researchers are trying to focus on various other enzymes such as reverse transcriptase via the process of Prime editing (more precise technique than CRISPR) for gene editing.

This one-day workshop will highlight on the high-end technologies used in gene editing, strategies and programming employed for desired project, skilled and expert resources along with advanced and emerging applications.

Who can participate?

One day National Conference is open for young students (undergraduates, post graduates and Ph.D.), translational biology researchers and scientists all over the country and overseas who are looking forward to inculcating the advances in the technology through cutting edge presentations given by the experts of the field.
