Sahaara: Your Anchor for Mental Well-Being
A Signature Initiative by the Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences (AIBHAS), Amity
University Bengaluru.
In today’s fast-paced academic world, student mental health and emotional well-being are more
crucial than ever. At the Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences (AIBHAS), we
understand that a strong mind is the foundation of a successful student journey. That’s why we are
proud to introduce Sahaara, our flagship University Counselling Service—an exclusive,
student-centric mental wellness initiative that stands as a cornerstone of our department’s
commitment to holistic development.
AIBHAS: Where Academic Excellence Meets Emotional Well-Being
At AIBHAS, we don't just train future psychologists—we live the values we teach. Sahaara embodies
our philosophy of proactive mental health support, offering a safe, inclusive, and confidential space
where students, faculty, and staff can access professional psychological services with ease. This
initiative is not just a service—it’s a reflection of our identity as a department that
places emotional resilience, psychological strength, and individual empowerment at the forefront of
student success.
Sahaara is more than a counselling service—it’s a transformative support system embedded in
the academic ecosystem of the university. Positioned within a department renowned for its psychological
expertise, the service benefits from cutting-edge clinical practices, student-led wellness research, and
a nurturing environment curated by faculty and practitioners in behavioural science. This integrated
presence makes AIBHAS not just an academic department, but a mental health ally to the entire university
community.

their capacity to support students and manage stress in their own roles.
- Training and Research Integration: As part of AIBHAS, the counselling service also serves as a
training and observational model for our postgraduate psychology students, under strict supervision
and confidentiality protocols.

Building a Mentally Stronger Campus, Together
Sahaara is more than just a service—it’s a movement. At AIBHAS, we believe that emotional
wellness should be as accessible and natural as academic tutoring or sports coaching. We aim to
de-stigmatize counselling and bring mental health to the heart of campus life.
As the academic world evolves, we are proud to lead with compassion, insight, and action. Sahaara is our
promise to every student: that you are not alone, your struggles are valid, and help is always within
reach.
CogLab: Exploring the Mind Through Classic Cognitive and Personality Tools
At the Amity Institute of Behavioural Health and Allied Sciences (AIBHAS), we are committed to providing
our students with practical, immersive learning experiences rooted in the foundations of psychology. Our
Cognitive Laboratory—CogLab—stands as a cornerstone of this philosophy, offering a hands-on
environment where students can actively engage with core psychological concepts through classic
experiments and well-established assessment tools.
CogLab is a vibrant space designed to bridge theory and practice, helping students understand how
cognitive functions and personality dynamics are studied, measured, and interpreted. It offers a unique
opportunity for learners to observe psychological principles in action—right from perception and
attention to projective personality assessment.
Timeless Tools, Tangible Insights
The equipment and resources in CogLab include a rich array of paper-pencil tests, experimental setups,
and clinical tools that have stood the test of time in psychological research and practice. These
include:
- Müller-Lyer Illusion and Other Visual Perception Tools Students explore
perceptual distortions and understand the mechanisms behind visual illusions, gaining insight into
how our brains interpret sensory information.
- Division of Attention and Span of Attention Tasks Through carefully designed
cognitive tasks, learners investigate how attention is divided or maintained under different
conditions—an essential aspect of understanding cognitive load and multitasking behaviour.
- Rorschach Inkblot Test and Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) Classic projective
techniques that allow students to engage with methods of personality assessment and learn the art of
interpretation in a supervised, academic setting.
- Paper-Pencil Intelligence and Aptitude Tests Including tools such as the
Binet-Kamat Test, Pass-along Test, and other culturally adapted intelligence measures to understand
cognitive potential and problem-solving approaches.
- Standardized Personality Inventories Such as the 16 Personality Factors (16 PF),
Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), and others that introduce students to the psychometric
approach to personality profiling.
Experiential Learning at the Core
CogLab is not just a physical space—it is an academic experience. All students, whether at the
undergraduate or postgraduate level, are trained to conduct structured experiments, administer
psychological assessments, and analyse behavioural data. This experiential approach deepens theoretical
understanding and builds essential clinical and research skills.
Students also get the opportunity to simulate the roles of examiner and participant, enhancing their
confidence in real-world assessment scenarios. Interpretation and report-writing exercises further
prepare them for academic, clinical, and applied psychology settings.
Building Foundations for Future Psychologists
CogLab is foundational in training the next generation of psychologists, therapists, and researchers. It
promotes ethical handling of tests, methodological accuracy, and reflective practice. Through guided
exposure to diverse psychological tools, students cultivate critical thinking, observation skills, and
professional readiness.
