Lessons Every Student Should Know Before Stepping Out of College

Education opens up multiple pathways to build a career. Along with a career it enables one to have an earning potential and impact the society through their actions in many positive ways. An educated individual possesses knowledge, skills and right attitude for a meaningful contribution to the real world. However, a student needs to be self-conscious of a few important points along with the acquiring of an educational degree. 

The knowledge that we acquire is subject to change with time no matter the extent to which it benefits us. Every claim is subject to question. Therefore, it is important to reflect on the acquired knowledge and understand the benefit of questioning it. Rather than becoming egoistic for the possession of knowledge we should be humble for the uncertainty in the acquired knowledge. 

This process helps in creating new knowledge. Creation has a higher value than just acquiring knowledge. Let us take the example of technology and the innovations that it makes our everyday life easy. The basis of technological innovations is ongoing research in scientific knowledge. Research is possible only when we critically attempt to question the existing knowledge. Secondly, it is important to remain engaged in action. However, every action of us has an ethical implication.

 It is a challenge to remain conscious that actions forebear ethical implications. Actions are directed by our knowledge, skills and attitude often making us victims of accuracy. Our continuous focus on material progress and the actions accompanied has lately made us realise that it has happened at the cost of our health, fitness and our environment. 

Thirdly, to what extent we should visit the past? It is of utmost importance to remain in the present and become conscious of how much of the past to be visited? We should visit to the past events to draw inspiration, strength that shape our aspiration and consciously avoid the events in past that provokes our emotion in a negative manner. 

An educated individual should possess the ability to differentiate between the past events, ideas that benefits us and the ones that degenerates us. No matter to whichever walk of life/profession we may belong to, it is important to have a historical consciousness and an appreciation for the evolution of everything. Fourthly, every individual should have some political education. Politics plays a significant role in our life. 

A basic knowledge of the ideas, their origin and preferences of political leaders help in understanding the decisions that shape the society and economy. Lastly, it is important to accept the fact that people with differences can also be right. Therefore, always keeping an eye for multiple perspectives on an event or issue is of utmost importance. The above points are to be considered by every student to understand before graduating from an educational institute.
