Emerging tools and trends in Pharmaceutical Research

 Amity Institute of Pharmacy under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh Lucknow organized five days online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Emerging tools and trends in Pharmaceutical Research from 21st September – 25th September 2020.  Pharmaceutical Sciences is a continuously evolving and highly dynamic field. Radical changes are happening to get a better product which can do value addition to human life. The main objective of this program was thereof  to aid  our faculties   to be well equipped with the recent and emerging  trends  in the pharmaceutical research and hence guide the students accordingly to have a competent future generation.  

Prof. (Dr.) Suneela Dhaneshwar, Director AIP, Deputy Dean of Research (S & T) was convener of the event. The distinguished galaxy of speakers from the field of pharmaceutics   deliberated upon various diverse topics of immense importance. We had eminent personality, Prof. (Dr.) Anant Paradkar, from University of Bradford, UK as the keynote speaker who gave an impactful delibration on the quantitative parameters for evaluating the performance of faculties. Dr. Vivek Srivastava, Senior scientist NBRI, Lucknow gave a lucid explanation on Patent and laws governing them. Dr Jayant Kandhare, CSO,  Actorius Innovations and Research Pvt Ltd, delivered an excellent talk  on the development  of liquid biopsy technique  for the diagnosis of solid tumours. His talk was highly motivational emphasizing on the potential of entrepreneurship and technology transfer. Dr. Nitin Srivastava, Professor & Dean at MIET, Meerut explained the emerging tool of Radio scintigraphy technique which can be used to predict the fate of drug in preclinical and clinical experiments with the help of radioisotope tracking. Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Patravale, Professor of Pharmaceutics,Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology ,Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai  highlighted the importance of  molecular pharmaceutics  in drug delivery. Mr. Ankur Bhargava, Associate Director, Dr Reddy's Lab, Hyderabad explained the importance and intricacies involved in the designing of a product by Quality by design  approach bringing in the much needed industry perspective. Dr Sushma Talegaonkar, Associate Professor, DPSRU delivered an enthralling lecture on the Challenges and opportunities associated with   Oral Delivery of Anticancer Drugs. Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay K. Jain, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar delivered his expert talk on colon specific drug delivery: emerging tools and trends. Prof. (Dr.) Anurag Verma, Principal, TMU, Moradabad delivered his expert talk on Role of Nanotechnology in the Treatment of Visceral Leishmaniasis. Prof. (Dr.)   Roop Kisen Khar Director, B. S. Anangpuria Educational Institutes emphasized on the importance of chemistry which forms the basis of all branches of Pharmacy and its applications in designing biodegradable polymers for novel drug delivery systems. Mr.Bhupesh Pratap, Principal Scientist,  Pharmacokinetics, Perrigo delivered his talk on IVVIC and PKPD modelling which is the need of the hour. Prof. (Dr.)   Padma V Devarajan, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai delivered her talk on Nanoparticle Shape and Splenotropy. Dr Amir ali Popat, Group Leader-NHMRC Senior Leadership Fellow NHMRC, School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland, Australia, explained in depth about the various emerging trends in oral drug delivery highlighting his work on mesoporous silica carriers for this. The session was aptly concluded by   Mr. Saurabh Pandey, Consultant Life Sciences and Health Care Advisory, TCS, Noida with an insight as to how artificial intelligence is radically  changing the face of healthcare across the globe.

The highlight of the faculty development program was an enthusiastic participation of over 200 faculty members Pan-India from 13 different states coming together in solidarity on one single platform to update and upgrade their knowledge, merging the physical boundaries.
