PANEL DISCUSSION ON “WOMEN ON THE FRONTIER OF HEALTH SCIENCES: CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES”


Amity Institute of Pharmacy under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow organized a Panel Discussion “WOMEN ON THE FRONTIER OF HEALTH SCIENCES: CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES”. The program was held on Wednesday, 10th March 2021 on zoom platform.

In present scenario women's role can no more be defined just as the one who cooks and looks after the family. Very large percentage of women from our society are choosing to work and are facing several challenges in moving up the academic and administrative ladder due to systemic barriers and structural factors. The panellists are from different areas of healthcare like medical & scientific writing, pharma advertisement, patents & IPRs, academic & research and development sector. The aim of this panel discussion was to discuss the challenges faced by women & highlight the opportunities available to them in the healthcare sector so that our students & other participants can also be benefited.

The program got started with the welcome address by the convener of the event, Prof. (Dr.) Suneela Dhaneshwar, Director AIP, Deputy Dean of Research (S & T), Head Directorate of Research & Publications AUUP, Lucknow at 02.00 pm on 10th March 2021. Dr. Qamar Rehman, Dean (S & T) presented her views on this occasion. Opening address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Dhaneshwar, Pro Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow. Inaugural address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Balvinder Shukla, Hon. Vice Chancellor, Professor – Entrepreneurship & Leadership, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Sr. Vice President, RBEF, Noida.

The panel discussion was presided by Prof. Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Professor – Entrepreneurship & Leadership Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Sr. Vice President, RBEF, Noida. The eminent panelists: Prof Dr Harvinder Popli, Director, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, DPSRU, Director DPSRU Innovation and Incubation Foundation; Ms. Bindu Narang, Senior Director, CDS India; Ms. Susan Josi, Managing Partner Havas Life Sorento; Dr. Mrudula Bele, Freelance Patent Consultant & Associate Professor NDMVP’s College of Pharmacy, Nashik shared their journey, success stories, experiences and challenges faced, which were very inspiring and motivating for almost 285 participants. The session was moderated by Mr. R. K Singh and coordinated by Dr. Neha Mathur and Dr. Nimisha.

The distinguished speakers deliberated upon the topic of immense importance. Dr. Harvinder Popli shared her experiences in her life. She said that go with your passion either in industry or in academics, excellence is required everywhere. Ms. Binu Narang said that gender difference is all in mind not in culture and it’s not induced in the society. Young girls stand for themselves competing with males and there is no reason for why to consider or reject girls. Ms. Susan Josi was the first Indian to get one prestigious scholarship. She talked about how other countries treat women and how India treats women. She highlighted importance of 4F’s that are Family, Friends, Faith and Focus in women’s life. Dr. Mrudula Bele shared her experiences and focused to develop self-talking habit which helps us to self-analyse ourselves. Session ended with vote of thanks offered by Dr. Neha Mathur.
