The Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW) plays a pivotal role in ensuring a supportive and enriching environment for all students during their academic journey at AUUP Lucknow Campus. The DSW is the key facilitator in addressing student concerns and supporting their holistic Development.
Single Window Clearance System: A Student-Centric Initiative
A unique Single Window Clearance System has been newly introduced under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor, with the guidance and headship of the Dean, Students' Welfare, AUUP Lucknow.
This system has been designed to ensure the welfare of students by providing a centralised platform to address and resolve all academic and university-related issues efficiently. It aims to streamline student support services, reduce delays, and enhance communication between students and university departments.
This initiative reflects AUUP Lucknow’s ongoing commitment to fostering a supportive and responsive academic environment for its students.
The primary areas of responsibility are outlined below:
Student Discipline
- The DSW is primarily responsible for maintaining discipline among both hostellers and day scholars.
- Ensures strict adherence to the anti-ragging policy. Any reported incident of ragging will be immediately investigated, and appropriate disciplinary action will be recommended to the Pro Vice Chancellor (Pro VC).
- All cases of indiscipline, misconduct, or misbehavior will be promptly reported. In coordination with the Head of Institution (HOI) and Proctor, a report will be submitted to Pro VC for final action.
- Acts as the Member Secretary of the Student Disciplinary Committee and is responsible for conveying decisions and penalties to the students concerned.
Hostel Activities and Campus Life
- Responsible for organizing "Amiphoria", the annual cultural and academic fest.
- Ensures vibrant campus life for hostel students by preparing an Activity Calendar. This is submitted for the approval of Pro VC and executed under the DSW’s supervision, including during off-campus hours.
- Oversees the celebration of festivals across all religions and communities to promote inclusivity and harmony on campus.
Welfare and the Well-being of Students
- Ensures student health is maintained in coordination with Doctors/Medical Attendants, Director Admin, and Director Hostels. While the Director of hostels, handles daily responsibilities, the DSW holds overall accountability.
- Interact regularly with students and their parents to maintain student motivation and well-being.
- Coordinates academic support for academically weaker students by involving HOIs and faculty members. Maintains records of such interventions.
- Plans and implements holistic development programs, with prior approval from Pro VC.
Sports Activities
- Organizes sports, games, and Yoga activities during holidays, weekends, and non-class hours, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
- Ensures optimal use of gym and sports facilities, in coordination with the Sports Officer.
- Forms university teams and is responsible for organizing "SANGATHAN", the Annual sports fest.
- Arranges student participation in inter-university and external sports events.
Scholarships
- Coordinates scholarship opportunities from various government organizations.
- Maintains records of students awarded scholarships by AUUP Lucknow Campus.
Cultural Activities
- Actively facilitates student participation in cultural events and celebrations.
- Encourages the formation of student-led clubs for cultural activities, while overseeing their functioning.
- Supports and promotes the Happiness Club and other student engagement initiatives.
The DSW is envisioned to play a central and proactive role in all student-centric activities. In addition to the aforementioned responsibilities, the DSW shall undertake any other duties as assigned by the Pro Vice Chancellor, always prioritising the welfare, development, and success of the students.
