“LAUGH LOUNGE”- A Stand-up Comedy Competition organized by Amity University, Jharkhand on 15th December 2018
“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor”, said the famous writer Charles Dickens. Amity University, Jharkhand organized a contest of giggles and laughter, of chuckles and smiles, where young comedians entertained the audience and reminded them of the positive and bright side of life, through their stand-up comedy.
Admission and Marketing Team of Amity University, Jharkhand, gave all the young comedians a platform to tickle the audience with the best of their comic skills at the Stand-up Comedy Competition called, “LAUGH LOUNGE”. The event witnessed extensive participation from Schools, Colleges, and Film and Drama Academies across Jharkhand. Students from Markham College, Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi, JVM Shyamali, Jharkhand Film and Theatre Academy Ranchi, Gossner College, ITI Ranchi and Amity University Jharkhand participated in this event. A special skit was performed by the talented students of Jharkhand Film and Theatre Academy (JFTA, Kadru Ranchi), in which they put forward the life of a below poverty line family from a village, in the most entertaining way. They received great appreciation and encouragement from the audience. Sourav Kumar of St. Xavier’s College won the 1st Prize, Kaustubh Tiwari of Amity University, Jharkhand got the 2nd Prize and the 3rd Prize was won by Priyanshu Kumar Mishra from JFTA. Participation of students was in such large numbers that we had to introduce three more prizes for the 4th, 5th and 6th positions, in order to encourage the youth to explore the field of comedy and entertainment. Mr.Sinha – Founder of Jharkhand Film and Theatre Academy, Ranchi was invited to be the Chief Guest of the event. He encouraged the students by his special solo performance.
The event received an immensely positive response to our social media platforms. It was really a pleasure to get requests from various students to organize such events in the future. An equally interested and energetic audience increased the grandeur of the event and made it a huge success.
