  • The DEng program, administered by the JHU's Whiting School of Engineering, is a doctoral-level graduate degree program designed for working engineers and scientists.
  • It is a full-time program that is pursued non-residentially.
  • The program takes the form of research collaboration between a student's employer, Amity University and the Whiting School of Engineering. Students are actively mentored by a primary advisor in the Whiting School as well as a co-advisor at their place of employment and Amity
  • Students customize their program to meet their professional goals, and immediately contribute to their current job responsibilities
  • DEng graduates are more knowledgeable, innovative, and creative problem solvers, and are better prepared for technical leadership roles in industry and the public sector.
  • The admission requirements include the prior completion of a Master's degree in the discipline of engineering or related field, as well as significant professional experience.
  • Students choose a real-world project arising from an engineering challenge in their current place of employment or interest.
  • This project remains the focus of their work throughout the program, ultimately leading to the development of a final portfolio that can include items such as prototypes, plans, patent applications, computer simulations, and user manuals.
  • Conferences are held at the Homewood Campus in Baltimore twice a year (January and June). Students meet with their advisors, take oral exams, and participate in networking, professional development, and social events during these conferences. Students can also take online courses as needed to enhance their learning.
  • Students will have access to the facilities at Amity Campus along with the guidance of Amity Faculty.
  • The final degree will be awarded by Johns Hopkins University, USA

The core of the Doctor of Engineering program is student's selection of and dedication to a project that directly applies to their current company or agency.

  • Project Students choose a real-world project arising from an engineering challenge in their current place of employment. This project remains the focus of their work throughout the program, ultimately leading to the development of a final portfolio that can include items such as prototypes, plans, patent applications, computer simulations, and user manuals.
  • Personal Supervisory Committee Students collaborate with their advisors throughout the program. Each student has a three- person personal supervisory committee consisting of:
    Primary advisor from the Whiting School of Engineering Co-advisor from Amity and their company or agency
    One additional professor from Johns Hopkins University who serves as an added, occasional resource
    This system allows students to access resources and professional advice from experts representing multiple disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Semiannual Conferences Students participate in Johns Hopkins University's semiannual DEng conferences that are held at the Homewood Campus in Baltimore twice a year (January and June). Students meet with their advisors, take oral exams, and participate in networking, professional development, and social events during these conferences.
  • Online Courses As needed, students may take online courses that enhance their learning.

FEE

  • To be paid to Johns Hopkins University- USD 65,000 annual program fee*. This covers expenses associated with the research (notably, the faculty mentor), as well as all courses the student takes.
  • To be paid to Amity University- INR 100,000 annual program fee*. This covers expenses associated with the research, infrastructure, faculty mentor etc.
