In specialization modules, students develop professional skills in their chosen field of specialization through lectures, practical sessions and workshops conducted by in-house faculty, visiting faculty and industry professionals. Students showcase their conceptual and technical skills in their respective fields of specialization, by teaming up with students of other specialization and working as members of a creative team. As per NEP ,various electives are offered by the departments providing students an opportunity to experiment with areas of filmmaking other than their chosen Specializations. While each department is responsible for running the course of their own specialization, students also work together to impart an integrated and multidimensional learning experience. Our Courses undergo constant revision every semester to stay at the forefront of the emerging styles and techniques. This evolution has made ASFD a richer, more diverse and vibrant place to learn.

Cinematography Course Description:

The specialisation in Creative Writing aims to give students all the creative skills, inspiration, and mentorship required to nurture their talent as writers and storytellers in various fields and formats, including but not limited to cinema and theatre. At ASFD, we aim to train our budding writers, through a myriad of industry-standard projects, to have the following skills: -

• Basics of Storytelling: What makes a good story? What is the meaning of ‘emotional immersion,’ and how is it created? How do we create expansive fictional worlds and populate them? How do we develop real flesh, blood characters, and make the audience root for them? How do you balance the nuances of plot and theme? How do you write impactful dialogue that sounds natural? These are some of the questions that have plagued writers for ages! At ASFD, we aim to help our students crack the code for how to plot and write emotionally engaging stories.
• Nuances of Formats: Learn about the industry-standard format and software used for different kinds of fiction/non-fiction writing.
• Fostering an Original Style: Develop a unique creative voice that supports the complexities of their ideas. Understand the usage of impactful figurative language to express complex emotions, delving into the mind of characters through descriptive writing and dialogue.
• The Art of Visual and Subtextual Storytelling: Interpret and integrate complex emotions and ideas into scenes and sequences that enthral readers and audiences across formats.
• Adaptability: Using your skills and the command over figurative language to write across formats, including but not limited to Feature Films, Short Films, Television, Web series, Prose, Poetry, Creative Non-Fiction, and Advertising.
• Lifelong Learning: Have the hunger to push yourself to keep learning and evolving in this rapidly changing media landscape.

Staff Writer, working in a writer’s room, collaborating with different ‘voices’ and developing ideas from scratch to full-fledged Web Series, TV shows, and Feature films, gaining priceless experience as a professional writer, picking up new skills to add to your armoury as a writer.

Freelance Screenwriter/Playwright, working on projects of your choice, allowing you to get different kinds of experiences with different types of formats (stage and screen) and in various environments. You can use this opportunity to develop original work and collaborate with others to realise a unified vision.

Copywriter, using the skills in visual storytelling and figurative language that you have mastered at ASFD, you may find work as an ad-film writer and/or copywriter creating narratives for brands.

Narrative Designer for Comics and Games, using the skills mastered in the specialised modules in game and comic book writing, you may realise your vision of bringing the world of your dreams to life in the pages of a comic book or an immersive game!

Dialogue and/or Writer, using the skills mastered in the specialised modules in Dialogue and Lyric writing, you may work with directors, screenwriters, and playwrights, contributing to developing a specific and vital aspect of their vision.

No of Seats: 20 seats to be filled on an interview basis for Indian students.

Qualification:   Graduation in any Discipline. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree and awaiting results, can also apply .However, such candidates, if selected, are allowed to join the programme, only if they submit a passing certificate/ mark sheet issued from competent authority of their institution / university

Selection Criteria : Selection is done on the basis of an interview. Students who are based in Delhi & NCR will have to come personally for the interview in Noida Campus. For outstation candidates, the interview will be held in online mode via Zoom / Microsoft Team.

Results are declared within 10 days after the interview. Selected candidates have to submit the fee within 15 days from the date of declaration of the result.

How to Prepare for the Interview : The intention of the interview board is to see whether the student is really passionate about the field of study he/she has applied for. For example ,The interview board would like to see your interest in basic photography/painting. Who are your favourite cinematographer and what you like about his work.

Course Fee: Students need to pay a fee per semester. The fee per semester of 6 months is (Rs. in Lacs) 0.72/- per semester
