Amity University hands over “Project Divya Drishti” to Technology Development Fund(TDF), DRDO

Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, Amity University, Noida handed over Project Divya Drishti, to Technology Development Fund (TDF), DRDO. “Project Divya Drishti” is an AI based detection of a person based on Physiological Parameters.

Congratulating Dr. Shivani Verma and her team, Dr Nidhi Bansal, Director, TDF, DRDO stated, “The project is a huge success and for every project, a lot of support and hard work of the project team as well as the development agency is required. Amity University Scientist, Dr. Shivani and her team have done a commendable job, and this project will contribute significantly to the evolving S&T landscape of the country. The project is also an example of fruitful industry-academia collaboration, and it paves the way for all the start-ups who will make India a self-reliant country.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Savitha D K, Sc. ‘F’ CAIR, Member Secretary, Project Monitoring and Mentoring Group (PMMG), DRDO, said, “It has been a pleasure to work closely with Dr. Shivani and her team, on this project which aims to benefit the society in a big way. The performance has improved immensely from the first version to the latest version, as it can now identify multiple people across multiple cameras.”

Expressing his extreme pleasure on the occasion, Dr W Selvamurthy, President, Amity Science Technology and Innovation Foundation averred, “Amity University is driving the mission of “Aatm Nirbhar Bharat”, and its scientists are constantly working towards making India a developed nation by 2047. Amity continues to be a major contributor to the Defence ecosystem of the country, by leading from the forefront and this TDF is a very important initiative and Amity University extends its heartfelt gratitude to DRDO for supporting this project whole heartedly, at each and every step.”

Addressing the gathering, Prof. M. S. Prasad, Director, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, asserted, “The journey of the project from start to finish has been a great learning experience and we are extremely grateful for the support we received from DRDO. It requires a lot of financial and technical support to form a start up and we have received huge support from DRDO for making this project a huge success.”

Explaining about the Project, Dr. Shivani Verma, Associate Professor, Amity Institute of Space Science & Technology, said, “Project Divya Drishti is a unique AI based human recognition system, which aims to design and develop an integrated approach for detecting a person by measuring four Physiological parameters: Skeletal data, Gait parameters, Movement parameters and Face recognition parameters. It is an Intelligent inferencing system with built-in high accuracy of recognition. The first version was released on 14th April 2023 and today we are glad to hand over the project to TDF, DRDO. We aim to introduce the technology in Defence, Aerospace and other relevant areas which require such technologies.”

Dr Arjun Singh, Additional Director, Sc. ‘F’ TDF DRDO, opined, “The government must extend its support to such projects and nurture such scientists and individuals who bring technology to the common masses, thereby enabling them to use it in their day to day lives. We will certainly do a lot of outreach, for this project so that it reaches the right people and organizations, which can benefit from this project.”
