Report on Mini Symposium On Forest and Wildlife of West Bengal

Departmentof Environmental Sciences and Department of Biotechnology of Amity UniversityKolkata jointly takes up initiatives in celebrating Earth Day 2017, byorganizing a Mini Symposium on Forest and Wildlife of West Bengal.

The eventwas so structured to pool the deep experience from the Forest and Wild lifesector and also to stimulate new ways of thinking among the students. The keyplayers of the forest and wild life sector in West Bengal were the guestspeakers of the day to help lay the groundwork of the foundation of a bridge ofprofessional interaction and future collaboration between Amity UniversityKolkata and Forest and Wildlife Department, West Bengal.

Dr. S. Kulandaivel,Conservator of Forests and Joint Director Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, presented a very informative talkon Wildlife management in West Bengal.

 

Shri Nilanjan Mallick, ChiefConservator of Forests and Field Director, Sundarban Tiger Reserve, casted a magic spell by hisoutstanding lecture on Glimpses of Sundarban Tiger Reserve whichgave a real insight of the nature and behavior of tigers in the Sundarban..

 

Shri Ravi Kant Sinha, Addl.Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Director, Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, ForestDepartment, focusedon the Career Prospects of Students inForestry and Wildlife sector. Students were highly motivated by his speechand were interested to get opportunities for internships in this sector.

 

It was a highlyinteractive forum for scientific exchange and collaboration among students,faculties, wildlife professionals, and scientists in the fieldsof forest and wildlife while disseminating the most recent scientific knowledge amongthem to encourage scientificresearch relevant to the conservation and management of the forestry, wildlifeand environmental resources
