What is Cognitive Science?

Cognitive Science is the interdisciplinary scientific study of the mind and its processes. It brings together Philosophy, Linguistics, Neuroscience, Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Psychology, and Computer Science into one unified discipline.

Why was ACCS established?

The Centre has been established with the belief that no single discipline can fully explain the complexity of the human mind. ACCS bridges neuroscience and computational sciences and addresses India-specific challenges like bilingual education and regional language processing.

What programmes does ACCS offer?

B.Sc. (Hons. / Hons. with Research), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Cognitive Science (An Undergraduate Major or Minor is also available).

What are the career prospects?

Graduates work in AI, NLP, Neuroscience, UX design, Clinical Research, Education Technology, policy, and more. They are also prepared for Doctoral Research Globally.

What is the eligibility for B.Sc.?

Minimum 60% in Class 10+2 from any stream, from any recognized board; preferred background: Physics, ChemistryMathematics/Biology/Psychology/Computer Science.

No prior background in Neuroscience, AI, Mathematics or coding is required.

Do I need a science background?

No. Scientific and technical skills are built from the ground up in the programme.

What is Honours with Research?

An enhanced research track with a rigorous dissertation, designed for high-achieving students who wish to pursue doctoral research after graduation.

Will I learn programming?

Yes. Python is taught from Year 1, progressing to data analysis, cognitive modelling, machine learning, and NLP.

Are internships part of the B.Sc.?

Yes. Industry and research internships are a credited component in Year 4.

What labs will B.Sc. students access?

ACCS core labs (EEG/MRI Analysis, Eye-tracking, Speech, Robotics, DGX Computing) plus CIF facilities.

What is the M.Sc. eligibility?

Bachelors Degree in any discipline with minimum 60%. Background in Psychology, Engineering (especially Computer Science), Linguistics, Philosophy, Neuroscience or Life Science is preferred

Is there a dissertation?

Yes. M.Sc. includes a summer internship (Semester 3) and a 14-credit dissertation (Semester 4).

Can I pursue a Ph.D. after M.Sc.?

Yes. The M.Sc. prepares students for Ph.D. programmes at IITs, TIFR, IIIT, MIT, Oxford, UCL, and CMU.

Are Doctoral Fellowships available?

Yes. ACCS offers Doctoral Fellowships and Assistantships allowing Ph.D. students to work alongside faculty on groundbreaking projects.
