About the department

Social sciences refer to the academic disciplines concerned with society and the relationships of individuals within a society. The vibrant field of social sciences helps students learn varied aspects of societal realities from a multi-disciplinary perspective. The learning environment at AISS ignites their minds with a craving to address concerns and analyse contemporary issues at the local, national, and global levels with a firm grounding in a community-based participatory approach. Amity Institute of Social Sciences (AISS) has been established under Amity University Madhya Pradesh to offer UG courses in Political Science, History, and Philosophy, respectively. To make disciplines more practical and approachable. AISS organizes guest lectures, seminars, field visits, and interactions with NGOs, government organizations, and industry along with cultural activities that broaden the horizons of knowledge and help the students to build holistic personalities.

Our aim at AISS is to bring about the holistic development of our students . The curriculum is broad - based and comprehensive , so that our students have a strong academic base to support them in their chosen career path . The value -added subjects like Foreign Language and Communication skills further reinforce the academic foundation of each discipline . The students also undergo summer training and work in the field for a while , which broadens their horizons and gives them a fresh perspective.

However, it is the AISS approach to teaching –learning that is the major differentiator. We inculcate and encourage critical thinking, power of analysis, and a spirit of inquiry in our students. These skills in turn prepare the students for careers in administrative services, policy making, research, higher studies, education and other related fields.

I welcome you to explore the world of learning and the learning of the world with AISS.
