World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries. Being an important day, the world environment day was celebrated on June 04, 2019 in Amity University Lucknow. The speakers for the day Prof. (Dr.) Surya Kant Tripathi, Head, Dept. of Respiratory Medicine and Pulmonary Critical Care, KGMU, Lucknow and Prof (Dr) Rajendra Prasad, Director Medical Education, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine, Era Medical College, Lucknow spoke on this year’s theme “Air Pollution” and it’s ill effects on human health and environment. The stress was on a collective effort on a local, national and global level to take care of Mother Earth. The event kick started with the opening remarks by Pro Vice chancellor Prof (Dr) Sunil Dhaneshwar and concluding remarks were delivered by Assistant Pro Vice chancellor Wing Commander Anil Kumar. At Amity University, Prof (Dr) Qamar Rahman, Dean Research (Science and Technology) is a pioneer in the field of Air pollution and has gained international recognition for her remarkable work on Asbestos toxicity, indoor pollution and women’s health.
