The students started with welcoming the Guest Speakers, faculties and students along with a brief introduction to the event. It was none other than out respected Director sir, Prof (Dr) Rohit Kushwaha sir, who with all the warmth and greetings of the day, cordially welcomed our guest speakers, faculties and students to the symposium.

Prof Sanjay Gupta Spoke on Russia-Ukraine crisis. He highlighted how the root cause of the problem lies in the history of cold war, and nefarious activities of NATO. He stressed on how USA wants to continue this war to exhaust Russia. He mentioned that India stands firmly to piece, and high-level talks are taking place with Chinese support in India to defuse the situation. The talk was followed by question answer round.

Prof. Shura Darapuri the second guest speaker spoke about marginalization. The title of her paper was Dalits and the problem of water. She discussed about the discrimination that untouchables or the Dalits face to avail the facilities of public utility. She mostly spoke about the Mahad Satyagraha or Chavdar Tale Satyagraha which was a satyagraha led by B. R. Ambedkar on 20 March 1927 to allow untouchables to use water in a public tank in Mahad (currently in Raigad district), Maharashtra, India. She spoke about the existence of the practice of untouchability even today which has not at all vanished but has adapted new incarnations. The talk was followed by the question answer round.

The Second Phase

Our first speaker in the second phase was Prof. Roop Rekha Verma, a social activist, a feminist, spoke on the equality between man and woman. She addressed the issue by quoting the day-to-day life subjects of differences between man and woman. She said, “Man shall not be considered superior just because he has more muscle power and he can carry heavy weights. There are some women who are stronger physically than man. that’s why it shall not be a point to allow a man to be dominant. At the same time a woman cannot be considered superior just because she can conceive and can give birth to a child.” She also spoke about the concealed reality of Indian customs and traditions and their discussion in mainstream literature. She spoke about the glorification of woman as durga and saraswati which is again clutches the freedom and liberty of a woman to grow and flourish in her life. The talk was followed by question-answer round.

Prof. D. R. Sahu Critical perspectives on education with special reference to liberal arts. He spoke about democracy, welfare state, education system and social sciences and its relevance in contemporary India. He addressed the students to develop thinking, critique and respond to the issues and problems of democracy through social sciences. He talked about, teaching and research universities. The focus shall be made on policy makers to develop institutes of national importance putting the social sciences at the core. It is the duty of students of social sciences to analyze and enquire into the problems of democracy so that the institutions of democracy can be safeguarded. The talk was followed by question answer round.

Lastly, we had Prof. B. B. Mallick sir who spoke about, how nationalism emerged due course of   history. He discussed the evolution of Nationalism right from the primitive times till the modern ages. Further he put some light on how concept of globalization and nationalism reciprocate to each other. How the concept of globalization helps in blurring the boundaries of nationalism and making the entire world a global village rather than individual entities.
