PANEL DISCUSSION ON PUBLIC SPACES; CHALK CIRCLES & VIDEO CONFERENCES- GANJING IN NEW PERCEPTION; BOUNDARIES TORN DOWN- HAZRATGANJ

The webinar was intended to introduce a discussion on the future of Public space, with Hazratganj area of Lucknow as a Case study, especially during the Pandemic Lockdown situation. All participants, the Faculty, students, and guests (architects and other professionals) were exposed to a rich discussion about the behavior of Open Spaces, especially in the City Centre, and the impact of a severe lockdown thereof. The combination of a rich kaleidoscope of experts, an architect-urban designer, an architectural photographer, and an educationist provided the participants a 360-degree vision of the situation. The three-pronged approach of urban space behavior through different viewpoints was immensely enriching. A theoretical concept - the building of understanding of public space socially, morphologically, things about public spaces which will change and things which will not; led to the actual images of pre and post lockdown; and finally a discourse on socio-psychological impact of lockdown upon students.

Pre webinar, a student competition for the same was floated for a sketch of transformed Hazratganj of future. The students participated enthusiastically with their visions of the same.
