31 students of BID Semester 2, along with four faculty members, went for an academic site visit to Hiranandani Fortune City, The case study was aimed at understanding the planning of the residential villa designed by renowned architect Hafeez Contractor. It also aimed at studying the materials and the construction technology used in the same.
Students also got an opportunity to collect data and also do a live case study pertaining to their current semester design topic. Students gained knowledge about the circulation spaces, furniture, anthropometric data and a first-hand feel of each material used in the villa. They took on-site measurements of the kitchen counter and dining area in order to understand the anthropometric data of the said activities. The outcome of the academic site visit was very positive since these students who are only in their 1st year, not only learnt co-ordination but also the finer nuances of working in groups for their assignments.
