BA(H) Political Science

Political Science is a branch of Social Sciences that teaches the student about the state, government, power, institutions, etc. Not only in India, but this course is one of the most opted courses around the globe as well. Political Science deals with the working of the state, government, and various agencies, and how one can use the theoretical knowledge about one’s country in the real or practical world for the betterment of the same. The graduates enrolled for this course will have a broad and deep understanding of the forces that shape law and order in society, the economy, international relations, and the politics of the future. This course also provides a strong foundation to the graduates to pursue careers in public services, academics, human rights, law, research, consulting, business, journalism, etc.

BA(H) History

The BA (H) History programmes at AISS continuously strives for sustenance and enhancement of quality in every field of its activity. It provides students with a basic grounding in history with the development of skills in research, analysis, critical thinking, and quantitative reasoning which are essential for a thorough understanding and grounding in Liberal Arts. The school provides the students a platform to understand long-term historical developments across continents develop original and complex interpretations of the past, and cultivate a wide range of skills that are highly valued by employers, such as the ability to assess evidence of many kinds and express ideas with acute precision. These transferable skills can be easily utilized to pursue different careers or provide a solid grounding for further academic endeavors.

The platform provided by the department reflects the research expertise of the faculty and most of the courses embrace themes and historiographical approaches that are on the cutting edge of research in today’s world.

The teaching process in BA (H) History adopts a seminar-style format with regular tutorials and the syllabus includes a wide range of courses in Indian and global history and archaeological methods which represent the disciplinary practices today.

Amity Institute of Social Sciences and Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences conducted a lecture series on World Philosophy Day, 2023, on March 21–22, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 01:15 p.m.

The project was funded by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), which has been very supportive in the celebration of World Philosophy Day. The event provided a global platform for individuals to express their philosophical beliefs, fostering a better understanding of the world and promoting peaceful coexistence.

The programme was aimed at creating awareness regarding the celebration of World Philosophy Day, 2024. The objectives of the session were:

  • To inculcate knowledge of philosophy in undergraduate students.
  • To create a forum for the students to ask out-of-the-box questions of the participating delegates.
  • To disseminate the idea of an Indian knowledge system among the students.
  • To create awareness about the ethics of globalisation from Vedanta and political perspectives among students.
