Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Rajasthan, was established in 2007 with the aim of nurturing aspiring biotechnologists.
Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary field that combines biological sciences with engineering technologies to manipulate living organisms and biological systems for the development of products that advance healthcare, medicine, agriculture, food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sustainability. Biotechnology can be broadly categorized into two areas: Research & Development in Biological Sciences and Industrial Processes.
The biological sciences aspect deals with research and development in areas such as Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, etc., aiming to understand and treat diseases, improve agricultural practices, enhance food production and promote environmental conservation. The industrial involves large scale production of drugs, vaccines, biofuels, and pharmaceuticals through advanced biochemical processes and techniques. Biotechnology represents a scientific revolution, offering vast opportunities to address global challenges across vital sectors such as food security, healthcare, and environmental protection.
This course will benefit
A detailed technical understanding of the key advanced methods used in the
contemporary biotechnology sector, along with the fundamentals of the
biotechnology industry, has been developed. This includes an appreciation of how
these techniques are applied both in biotechnology and advanced research.
Learners have acquired the knowledge necessary to critically appraise new data
generated from these techniques and to interpret their broader scientific and
practical implications.
Additionally, an understanding of the commercial, financial, and regulatory
frameworks in which the biotechnology sector operates has been established. This
content is particularly relevant for managers, group leaders, supervisors,
scientists, and technicians from R&D and manufacturing units in biotech
organizations who require a comprehensive overview of the field. It is also
beneficial for engineering, validation, and quality control/assurance
professionals transitioning into the biotechnology domain.
