Dr. Inakshi Chaturvedi Delivering her Address
“Current Themes in Indian Politics” has been chosen keeping in view the frequently changing landscape and trajectory of Indian Politics. Indian Politics has developed its own Incremental trends, Primarily based on the influence of a pluralistic society, continuously evolving Political culture, increasing role of Social Media, recent decline in Welfare Democracy and many more other factors. It aims at familiarising students with the contemporary trends that are emerging in Indian Politics and are exercising a considerable amount of impact over it.
The expert discussed in details the changing pattern of Indian Political Scenario and divided them into three categories - a) Institutional b) Ideological c) Constitutional. The emerging pattern of change constitutes Era of multi Party System, change in federal system, decline in feudalistic and aristocratic tendencies, and emergence of Cooperative Federalism etc. Expert shares some concerns in the contemporary politics like Politics of Opportunism, Post Poll alliances, Politics of Casteism, Populistic Politics, Politics of Mass Policies, Decline in Ideology etc.
Dr. Chaturvedi also briefly discussed the question of Secularism and appeasement in Indian democracy and Significance of abrogation of Article 370.
An interactive session also took place where different queries of students were answered.
Dr. Inakshi Chaturvedi is an expert on Indian Government & Politics and has been associated with Department of Political Science, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
