International Conference on “The New Digital Age: Reshaping Strategies for Business Organisation”

Amity University Haryana, organised an International Conference on “The New Digital Age: Reshaping Strategies for Business Organisation” on February 23-24, 2017 at Amity Education Valley, Gurgaon (Manesar), Haryana.

The Conference was an endeavour to provide faculty and researchers to share their views on the challenges faced by the transformative changes taking place in the business organisations owing to the rise of digital technologies and evolve suitable response to convert the perceived threat into an opportunity.

 

The event began with the traditional invocation by lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. Welcoming the guests at the inaugural session, Prof. (Dr.) Padmakali Banerjee, Pro Vice Chancellor & Dean Academics and Director, Amity Business School, termed February 23, 2017 as an historic day with the coming together of galaxy of participants from all over the country and even abroad to participate in the conference. This was the time to learn from our success as well as from failures that were inevitable especially for the start-ups, she stated in a forthright manner. It was the era of Innovation, Industry integration and Internationalisation – the three ‘Is’. In a proactive move, AUH has already taken a series of steps like moving from paper books to a digital library. She also announced that a ‘data analysis forum’ will be added to those existing for BRICS studies and Financial Analytics already available.

 

In his words of wisdom, Prof. (Dr.) P.B. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Amity University, Haryana, brought out that the generation gap has closed in terms of contribution, wherein, instead of age or experience, the competencies to be looked into will be Innovativeness, Creativity, Idea generation and New product development. Concept of leadership will gravitate to ‘inspirational’ and the theories of motivation will also undergo a sea change. At the end ‘Satyamev Jayate’ will prevail.

 

In his keynote address, Mr. Prashant Sinha, Co-founder & COO of mycity4kids.com, stated that time to reshape strategy has run out as it is time to recreate to meet the challenges of disruption that has already begun to happen. Citing wide examples from the world industry, he stated that industries are built and killed every day. Accordingly the ‘digital quotient’ has to be raised continuously.

 

Mr. Alok Bharadwaj,Senior Vice President South & South East Asia -Canon Singapore, highlighted the need for connected digitalisation. Mr. Sreenivasa Reddy Director-Corporate Affairs & Industrial Relations, Ericsson India, took the audience through the journey of 2G, 3G, and 4G. It’s time now for 5G, which is going to be a platform on which any future wireless application can be implemented.  Mr. Jappreet Sethi, Co- Founder & Head Marketing, YoStartups Pvt. Ltd. said that in about two decades or so the economy as we know now will be on its last legs. In an interesting manner he cited the introduction of food pills, robots for everything and hydrogen colliders as substitute for fuel. He also mentioned of the efforts of Stephen Hawkins in designing ‘ethics for machine learning’

 

A total of five technical sessions were scheduled, the first technical session on Finance and Economics was Chaired by Dr. Vikas Madhukar and Dr. Bhawna Adhikari. The session discussed different thoughts right from operational efficiency of banks to demonetization to creative economics. The second session on Human Resource Management was chaired by Dr. Seema Rafique and Dr. Anamika Pandey. Much of talks were on how world has undergone far reaching cultural, societal and economical changes based on the increasing dominance of digital technologies. Two of the parallel sessions were on Marketing Strategies in the Digital World. Both the session were Chaired by Dr. Sheetal Kapoor, Dr. Arvind Kumar, Dr. Preety Wadhwa and Mr. Nishant Neeraj. The session talks about how Business professionals and owners are facing many challenges in incorporating and integrating their business development and marketing campaigns in the digital era. The fourth and the final session on Information Technology & Services was Chaired by Dr. Vikas Kumar and Dr. Rishipal. This session emphasized about the impact of computerization and Information Technology on various walks of life that has significantly contributed to the development in the industry.

 

This will be followed by a panel discussion on one of the most stimulating topics—“New Digital Economy- How it will Transform Business”. The members for this panel discussion will be Mr Manoj Mishra, Group Corporate Strategy Officer, Spark Minda Group, Mr Yogesh Kochher: CEO, LyfOlyf.com , Mr Gaurav Singhal - Founder & CEO Blue Digital Media Pvt. Ltd India and Mr Vinay Mishra-Director, Pricing at Col. Tec.

 

 The inaugural session concluded with ‘Vote of Thanks proposed by Prof. (Dr.) Vikas Madhukar, Dy Director, Amity Business School and Director Admissions, AUH.
