Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights “Importance of Intellectual Property in Generic Pharma Industry

 A national seminar on Intellectual Property Rights “Importance of Intellectual Property in Generic Pharma Industry was organized by Amity Institute of Pharmacy, AUMP on date 17/04/2021. The seminar was conducted on online platform (Zoom).

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Phaneendra KurapatiManager, Department of IPR, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory, Hyderabad. The brief introduction about Mr. Phaneendra Kurapati was given by Dr. Jovita Kanoujia. Mr. Kurapati started his lecture with the introduction of intellectual property rights and different types of intellectual property. He discussed about patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secret, and geographical indications. He has demonstrated the various tools for searching patents online. Mr. Kurapati emphasized the role of intellectual property management which involves the product selection, product development, product filling, product launch and intellectual property portfolio. He has also provided the guidance to the students regarding intellectual property rights related courses online such as WIPO and NALSAR. The seminar was attended by 95 participants from Amity Institute of Pharmacy as well as from other institutes.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. S Vijay Raj, Associate Professor, AIP, AUMP. This program was successfully planned and organized with the co-ordination of Dr. A.N. Nagappa Director, AIP and Dr. S. Mohanalakshmi, Deputy Director, AIP along with Dr. S Vijay Raj and Dr. Jovita Kanoujia.
