Taking cue from dynamic landscape of fashion and design industry, the academic curriculum at ASFT has been designed to offer a balanced mix of knowledge as well as practical training that help student to be industry ready after the completion of their course.
Fashion design department equips graduates with conceptualization, design, web, advertising, merchandising, retail, entrepreneurship and other skills needed to compete in the rapidly changing global fashion scenario. The design course is an amalgamation of artistic and scientific thought process coupled with technical knowledge.
The curriculum emphasizes on building a variety of skills, in combination with theoretical knowledge and practical application. The program commences with the fundamentals of textile design. This includes, textile fibres, weave structure, surface design, dyeing techniques, printing methods, sewing techniques, constructed textiles and basic inputs in garment design.
Through increasingly complex design projects, complemented by related inputs in the social sciences, fashion, trends, brand identity, technology and computer-aided design, students are encouraged to design textiles for the apparel and furnishing industry. The program includes several interdisciplinary projects of designing textiles for corporate and public spaces, exhibition, interiors, studios, ramp walks, events, expos, fashion shoot, magazine profile etc.
