Professional Affiliations
Currently, Chair Professor at the School of Translation Studies, Shandong University (Weihai), China. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a Member of the Academia Europaea. Additionally, Senior Fellow at the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies at Victoria College, University of Toronto; Associate at the Harvard University Herbaria; Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge; Twice Fulbright Fellowships to Harvard University and the Shanghai Thousand Talent Award.
Professional Activities
Prof. Hart holds dual doctorates: a Ph.D. in English from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Cambridge. His academic career includes appointments at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Cambridge, the Sorbonne-Nouvelle (Paris III), Leiden University, UC Irvine, and Peking University. He has also been affiliated with the University of Toronto and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Other Achievements
Prof. Hart has authored over 30 books and edited several others, with his work spanning topics such as Shakespeare, Renaissance literature, colonialism, and translation studies. His recent publications include:
- Language in Colonization, Renaissance Poetry and Shakespeare (2025)- Poetry and Culture in Britain, Canada and the United States (2025)
- Language in Literature (2024)
As a poet, his collections include Dream China (2002), Dream Salvage (2003), Dreamwork (2010), Musing (2011), The Burning Lake (2016), and Unforgetting Private Charles Smith (2019). His poetry has been featured in journals such as Harvard Review, Mattoid, and The Antigonish Review, and translated into multiple languages, including Chinese, French, Polish, Romanian, Estonian, Slovenian, and Greek.
