Amity Institute of Biotechnology trains students to engage in the development and research of innovative biomedical products that could transform medical science. Students harness knowledge and skills through basic and applied research.

The institute apprises students about processes involved in obtaining research funding and developing life-saving products and drugs that sustain human and plant life.

The academic courses entail a range of multidisciplinary coursework, studies, research, and projects. Research scholars work closely with experts in specialised areas of research to advance knowledge of human and plant life as well as explore medicinal targets for the prevention and treatment of acute illness and conditions.

AIB provides several opportunities for students to pursue active research projects, including funded ones, and expand their horizons through experimenting and developing biomedical products in state-of-the-art labs, facilities, and infrastructure. This adds to the intellectual knowledge of scholars, which in turn helps them secure positions as faculty, researchers, and scientists in global universities, leading research institutes of national and international repute, as well as premier biotechnology industries.

AIB is actively involved in these activities

  • Imparting doctoral guidance to the scholars from diverse institutions of CSIR, ICAR, KGMU, SGPGIMS and RMLIMS.
  • Involving UG and PG students in in-house research activities leading to development of patents and research skill amongst students.
  • Attained high Research and Development (R&D) indicators by securing high quality publications, filing patents and awarded government research fundings.
  • Highly qualified faculty dedicated to enhance academic and professional skills of students.
  • 100% placement of students with reputed national and international bio-pharma organizations.
  • Promoting students focused on higher studies in reputed international arena like Max Planck Research School, Germany; Helmholtz-Zentrum für Infektions-forschung, Germany; Harvard Medical School Boston, USA; University of Ulster, United Kingdom to name a few.

Collaboration with Indian Academic & Research Organizations

The institute’s interdisciplinary academic programmes train students and scholars in basic and applied research. Students get ample opportunities to be a part of research projects and expand frontiers of knowledge by working in state-of-the-art labs and facilities. This furthers the intellectual development of students and motivates them to go for research studies in core subjects. The institute has joined hands with different scientific agencies and leaders in the biotechnology industry to conduct research activities. This step contributed immensely to advanced research studies in the development of drugs and healthcare facilities. AIB has collaborated with many prestigious institutes such as:

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow

Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow

Central Institute of Sub Tropical Horticulture, Lucknow

Mendel University in Brno

RML Mehrotra Pathology

Core Diagnostics Bangalore

Initiatives

Some students of AIB have turned entrepreneurs and are creating niches for themselves in the fields of Biotechnology. The success stories of our alumni are testimony of AIB’s academic rigour and practical training.

Mr. Gyanendra is an alumnus of M.Sc. (Biotechnology) 2011 – 2013 batch who after post-graduation scaled up to be an entrepreneur. His organization “Arise Naturals” used to collect the flowers from diverse locations (ghats and temples) of Varanasi and precisely they extract the colourful dyes from petals and flower waste and use it as herbal fabric dye.
