Biotechnology is one of the emerging areas under S&T and has not left any stone unturned towards the betterment of life, thus making the lives of human beings almost biotechnology-driven.
The programme strives to generate more innovative products and amalgamate thriving technologies to transform every facet of life. The impact of the availability of new genetic and genomic tools is also highly relevant for industrial, medical, and environmental applications.
Amity Institute of Biotechnology (AIB) – Lucknow, under the aegis of Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, was established in the year 2004 with the focus of generating and nurturing the talent of life science students through diverse fields of biotechnology. AIB offers diverse programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, viz., B.Tech. (Biotechnology), B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology, M.Sc. (Biotechnology), M.Sc. (Microbiology), M.Tech. (Biotechnology), and Ph.D. (Biotechnology).
These programmes are designed vis-à-vis industrial requirements, thus helping students to be industry-ready on completion of the academic programme. The institute is well equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory as well as facilities and infrastructure for research activities. The institute is privileged to have highly qualified faculty with a proven track record, enriched with industry and academic experience. The institute has redesigned its curriculum by incorporating core subjects, electives, and basket courses where the learners develop themselves through theoretical and practical training. Research set up under AIB is supported by a specialised research cell that concentrates on research initiatives in important thrust areas in all sectors of life processes related to health care, diagnostics, therapeutics, and preventives.
The students are motivated to initiate research projects under the supervision of the institute and industry mentors, where they also come up with significant research publications and paper presentations at conferences. Some of the students have shared ownership in patents. The institute is proud of its alumni and their valuable credentials. Many of our students cleared highly competitive exams like UPSC (Civil Services), GATE, CSIR-UGC-NET with selection into IITs and national laboratories of CSIR, ICAR, and ICMR. We also feel honoured to add that our students have gained positions in leading foreign universities like the International Max Planck Research School, Tübingen, Germany; Helmholtz Zentrum für Infektionsforschung, Inhoffen Strasse, Germany; Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA; Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad; and the University of Ulster, United Kingdom, to name a few.
A wide range of specialised lectures by subject experts, visits to industries, along with seminars, symposia, workshops, and conferences, brings awareness and confidence among our students, thus giving them an edge over other candidates in shaping their future career and work opportunities.
