Programmes Overview - Amity Institute of Liberal Arts

Amity Institute of Liberal Arts fosters an environment that encourages all its members to participate in the learning process. Through innovative teaching, research and community outreach activities, we foster thoughtful inquiry, insightful reflection and robust discourse. Amity Institute of Liberal Arts offers a 3 year full time BA (H) Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree program. Amity Institute of Liberal Arts also offers a 2 year post graduate degree program in Master of Social Work. For BA in Liberal Arts, you will get to choose your major from three major social sciences - economics, political science, and history – your minor can come from any of these subjects or from completely different fields like Social Work, Fine Arts, Fashion Technology, Mass Communication and Animation, Literature, Information Technology, Maths and Statistics. You would do 14 papers in the field that you choose as Major and minimum 8 papers in the field that you choose as Minor. The course is such designed that you can do your masters even in the minor field.

Both BSW and MSW enable you to learn all aspects of Social work from mental health to community development to CSR to disability. It strives to provide holistic knowledge to the students.

Programmes Overview - Amity School of Languages

The B.A. and B.A. (Hon.) courses differ from each other mainly in that the B.A. is spread equally over all areas of study prescribed in the syllabus, whereas the B.A.(Hon.) focuses on gaining in depth knowledge in a particular area, with other subsidiary areas. Honours students write research-based dissertations or long essays in the final stages of their studies.

BA English (Hon.) – The course is designed to give broad idea of English literature from the global perspective which gives students an insight into the major literary canons – that sequence of interlinked works – with their characteristic trends and genres with major literary authors and texts. The course seeks to nurture wide array of knowledge of Literature, Literary Theory and Criticism, literary Terms, Linguistics and ELT besides creative writing, Communication, Soft and thinking skills so that students can love and appreciate English Literature and Language. This will give the students exposure to explore their career in Literature and Language and corporate industry. This course gives an understanding of various aspects of English language and literature across the world.

B.A. French (Hon.) - This programme spread over six semesters of 25 credits each introduces not only the French language to learners, but also the rich and vibrant French and francophone history, culture and literature. Along with these aesthetic subjects, the programme also proposes courses like introduction to translation, business French, French used in tourism and hospitality industries. Learners are encouraged to join internships during their summer break. At the end of the programme, the programme demands a final dissertation project from each student, who is guided by the expert faculty, in different domains like “didactique du FLE”, translation or literature. Finally, this is a comprehensive and challenging programme which will help the learner to pursue Masters or seek employment directly after their BA.
