It was followed by a theatrical production of Atul Kumar’s “Piya Behrupia”, which was recreated by Mimesis, the ASL Dramatics Club, as a musical performance on the 6th of October. 270 members registered for the event. The registrations included faculty and students from different colleges and Universities of Lucknow, along with active and eager participation by Amity fraternity.

The Workshop Life Skills Through Performance and Theatre was inspired by the thought of tracing the transformation from ‘Text to Performance’ where prescribed syllabus had greater understanding than flipped classes. It aimed to use acting, performance, and theatre as a medium for developing life skills and essential soft skills.

It was envisioned that such events will encourage the participants to focus on professional avenues available in theatre, films, radio, and television.

The Workshop and the Theatre production highlighted the potential of such activities to implement text/theory taught in the classroom into practice. It offered avenues to have a discourse on the relevance of theatre in education, which is one of the aims of NEP 2020 of the Government of India.

This event also aimed to provide practical training to students, making them industry-ready by building professional, public, managerial, and communication skills to transform them into tomorrow's global leaders.

The production of  Atul Kumar’s‘Piya Behrupia’ re invented was found to be appropriate as it has been inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.

As students of Literature, the participants witnessed the performative aspect of drama and realized that the students can also present the text on stage. It was believed that the light-hearted comedy will engage student attention and also encourage them to participate in such events.
