Cancer Awareness Program & Pathology Exhibition

World Cancer Day is an international day marked on 4th February every year, to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. The theme for this year World Cancer Day 2024 is “Close the Care Gap”. Amity Institute of Pharmacy, under the aegis of Amity University Uttar Pradesh hold “Cancer Awareness Program & Pathology Exhibition” on behalf of World Cancer Day-2024 on 2nd February 2024. The main highlight of the event was an in-campus Cancer Awareness Rally held by the Pharm D and M. Pharmacy students and faculties of AIP. A pathological exhibition on “Human Cancer-Organ Specimen “open for all students and faculties across the Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow Campus was also organized in collaboration with Sahara Hospital, Lucknow. Almost 16 different cancer specimens were displayed in this exhibition including 1. non-invasive follicular thyroid carcinoma, 2. mature cystic teratoma, 3. serous cystadenoma, 4. squamous cell carcinoma of cervix, 5. invasive ductal carcinoma of breast, 6. metaplastic cancer of breast, 7. renal cell cancer, 8. osteoblastic osteosarcoma of rectus femoris, 9. atypical lipomatous tumor, 10. leiomyosarcoma, 11. giant cell tumor of bone, 12. Fibroblastic meningioma, 13. glioblastoma multiformes, 14. carcinoma caecum, 15. carcinoma stomach, 16. papillary thyroid cancer. The event was graced with the presence of Wg Cdr (Dr.) Anil Kumar (Retd), Deputy PRO VC & Director ASET, AUUP, Lucknow Campus, Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Mishra, Director-Amity Institute of Pharmacy, AUUP, Lucknow Campus, Dr. Anju Shukla, Senior Consultant & Head at Sahara Hospital, MD Physiology Pathology and Related Sciences as the chief guest of this event and her team from Sahara Hospital, Lucknow. The Team Sahara comprised of Dr. Fatema Shareh Naqvi, Dr. Zoya Qamar, Ms. Supriya Pandey and Mr. Abhay Suman. Dr. Anju Shukla, the esteemed chief guest, delivered an awareness talk on "How the habits and lifestyle of youngsters are enhancing the risk for different types of cancer?" The event was successfully carried out accomplishing all proposed objectives. The honourable chief guest and Dr. S. P Singh, Professor, AIP, AUUP, Lucknow evaluated almost 8 Posters created by students based on the theme of the World Cancer Day. The result of the poster making competition was declared and the winners were commended with e-certificates. The event ended with the official vote of thanks offered by faculty co-ordinator Dr. Lucy Mohapatra, Associate Professor, AIP, AUUP, Lucknow followed by the national anthem. The event was successfully carried out accomplishing all proposed objectives.
