A workshop is being organized by Amity school of fashion technology on Fashion Styling and Make-Up Techniques, under the able guidance of Prof. Pooja Verma Director ASFT, coordinated by Ms. Lali Priya (Assistant Professor-II) and Ms. Mridula S. Mehrotra, (Asst. Prof.) The workshop provided a forum for students where they learnt different methodologies of Fashion styling and develop their own skills towards the subjects. The workshop was conducted in phased manner for all fashion students.
A three day detail session enhanced the student’s ways of passion for style their creative mind and fill them with visual ideas, students should learn how to recognize, reinvent and define image for a garment, product or brand.
The workshop was conducted by Ms Deepika Kumar, Associate Prof. NIFT and Mr. Akhilendra Sonker, Styling Expert & Asst. Prof. NIFT Rai Bareli
Day 1— Students were briefed about the elements of styling and ways by which they work on mood boards, inspirations. The students were also detailed about the trends and fashion season. The second session of the day involved activity on designing of boards based on elements of styling. The students were given topics on which they had to prepare looks to be discussed next day.
Day-2 The session started at 10.30am with the analysis of the boards made a day before. The students were given topics a day before on which they prepared looks. The activity continued with the actual transfer of the looks to live project. The students were divided in the groups and out of the two looks they had to style up one of the student accordingly.
Day 3- The final day students were given the topics in which they had to style the full look from the dress to accessories to footwear and make up. The students were guided by the experts with various instant techniques like button masala, the locking up, mish mash etc to give a complete new diva style with the same set of garment.
The 3 day workshop included Knowledge enhancement about the topic through practical approach. It will also help them in their self-grooming, development towards Industry Readiness and focus towards the new trends. Students learn how to create an immediately identifiable and recognizable style in order to produce and develop live photo shoots, image editing, still life and choices in make-up, hair and accessories. They are encouraged to decode stereotypes and to think about image positioning from a different perspective in order to discover their own unique personal style.
