A Guest Lecture on “Smart Managers, Bad Decisions: Rethinking Ethics and Learning through IKS” by ABS on 23rd April 2026.

A Guest lecture

The guest lecture on “Smart Managers, Bad Decisions: Rethinking Ethics and Learning through IKS (Indian Knowledge Systems)” organized by Amity Business School aimed to provide students with a deeper understanding of ethical decision-making, responsible leadership, and the relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) in contemporary management practices.

The session sought to analyse the ethical challenges faced by managers and explore how cognitive biases, pressure, and lack of self-awareness can influence poor decision-making despite intelligence and professional competence. Through the expert insights shared by Ramesh Roshan Das Guru, the event aimed to encourage critical thinking, ethical awareness, self-reflection, and the integration of traditional Indian wisdom with modern business and leadership practices.

The insightful session delivered by Ramesh Roshan Das Guru provided participants with a meaningful understanding of ethical challenges in management, the role of cognitive biases in decision-making, and the importance of ethical clarity and self-awareness in leadership. The lecture effectively demonstrated that intelligence and professional knowledge alone are insufficient for responsible decision-making without strong ethical foundations and reflective thinking.

A significant aspect of the session was the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) with contemporary management practices, where the speaker connected traditional Indian wisdom and philosophical principles with modern corporate and business situations. Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, students gained valuable insights into the gap between knowledge and ethical action while learning the importance of responsible leadership and value-based management practices.
