The growing use of such Ayurvedic/herbal products by the public is forcing moves to evaluate the health claims of these medicines and to develop standards of quality manufacturing and safe for human use with less side-effects.
With this aim Amity Institute of Biotechnology and Translational Biomedical Research Society (TBRS), India organized the Two-day national symposium on “Emerging techniques for the characterization and therapeutic evaluation of traditional ayurvedic/herbal medicines” to bring together ethnobotanists, anthropologists, pharmacists, medical doctors (or physicians), clinical/preclinical researchers, traditional (natural) healthcare practitioners and academic researchers working in the area of biomedical/allied sciences. The symposium served as an effective platform for fostering academic collaborations among basic researchers, healthcare practitioners and translational biomedical scientists and discussed the development of standard protocols for characterization of Ayurvedic/herbal products as well as to generate scientific evidences for their therapeutic efficacy and safety.
As a Chief Guest of the event, Prof. Alok Dhawan, Director, Centre of Biomedical Research, Lucknow has shared his experiences and motivate the participants with his inspirational talk. More than 150 participants have presented their valuable research findings including the keynote speakers from various renowned institutions like CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-IITR, IITs, Pune University, Kalyani University etc. Dr Manish Dwivedi (AIB, AUUP- Lucknow), Dr Neha Mathur (AIP, AUUP-Lucknow) and Dr Dinesh Kumar (President, TBRS, CBMR, Lucknow) have coordinated the event as convener of symposium.
