Competency Centre - AIT

Six Centres are established in collaboration with Tata Technologies LTD for creating Industry Simulated Environment inside the campus. These Centres are run by Tata Technologies LTD experts.

Technology Center

This center enables students to learn and experience the latest technology tools used by major original equipment manufacturers (OEM) for product design and development .IGetIT an intrinsic e-Learning tool developed by TATA Technologies Ltd is used to impart such learning.
  • This Center has 30 workstations modelled in exact replica of software and hardware as design centers of Tata Technologies Ltd at Pune.
  • Software tools for CAD,CAM and CAE such as Creo, Catia, Nastran, Patran, MSC Products, Simplyfy 3D,etc.
 

Innovation Center

The Innovation Centre is a creativity incubator, focused on exploring how new and emerging technologies .The philosophy behind the Innovation Centre is to have a one stop shop for students to design and prototype of all kinds of products and designs locally. The Centre has been equipped with different machinery like

Teardown and Benchmarking Centre

The Teardown Bench Marking Centre has facility for conducting benchmarking studies, studying cost effective designs, instill the principles of Value Engineering, frugal design in students. This center enables students to completely dissemble and assemble a car or any other automobile or aircraft assembly. The center consists of different machinery and tools such as

  • Two cars for tear down
  • Display trolleys with parts of two vehicles
  • Two car lifts, air compressor
  • Engineering toolbox, measuring tools
  • Special tear down equipment, portable crane

Domain Learning Center

This center is developed on the concept of See and Learn. Students will be able to experience and learn different sub systems and components of Automotive and Aeronautical assemblies by seeing and touching them. This center consists of

  • Working model cut sections of Tata Indica and Tata Sumo.
  • Several assemblies of car such as CRDI diesel engine, MPFI petrol engine, steering wheel, gear box, trans axle, front axle, rear axle with differential, engine, dashboard, HVAC etc.
  • Aircraft Landing Gear

 

Virtual Reality Center

In this center students can have hands on experience on virtual reality (VR) tools and techniques , perceived quality, complex mechanisms, vehicle integration, assembly sequence, ergonomics, kinematics, virtual testing, manufacturing simulation. And learning about industrial VR practice real time projects. This lab is equipped with

  • Cessna aircraft flight simulator with five numbers of live sharing simulators.

Advance Manufacturing Center

This centre is built for the purpose of training students on Advanced manufacturing technologies in the industry. Our Centre mirrors the actual workplaces in industry and providing them with industry stimulating environment inside the campus. The Advanced Manufacturing competency centre has

Department of Aerospace Engineering

Aerodynamics Lab

The aerodynamics lab provides facilities such as Reynolds apparatus, Pitot - static tube, wind tunnel and Hele-Shaw flow apparatus. The lab helps students to learn the practical aspects of aerodynamics.

Structure Lab

The structure lab has equipment’s such as closed, open and I-sections, which are useful for learning the fundamentals associated with aircraft structures.

Propulsion Lab

The experimental setups for ramjet, axial fan and nozzle provides good hands on practice to the students and helps them to learn aircraft propulsion from a unique perspective.

Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering

 

Electronics and Circuits Lab

The lab consists of trainer kits related to Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The kits are used to perform experiments like PN Junction diode characteristics, transistor input and output characteristics, Zener diode characteristics and voltage regulator, 20 MHz Dual Trace Oscilloscope, 1 MHz Signal Generator etc.

Digital Electronics and Microprocessor Lab

The lab is equipped with all the kits and instruments related to the implementation of digital circuits and microprocessors like 8085, 8086 etc.

Communication Lab

The lab comprises of a communication trainer kit and Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO) required to study various analogue and digital modulation techniques like AM, FM, PM, ASK, FSK, and PSK.

VLSI Design Lab: ref. photo 7

The lab includes Artix 7 FPGA development kit and Xilinx, and Model Sim, Microwind software, and advanced simulation tools for the study of MOSFET based analogue and digital circuits.

Measurements and Controls Lab

The lab includes kits for the study of various sensors and transducers like LVDT, RTD, Strain Gauge etc.

Electrical Machines Lab

The lab includes dc motors and generators, synchronous generators, synchronous motors and single phase/three phase induction motors and transformer bench which facilitates experiments on single phase/three phase transformers.

Robotics Lab

The lab includes different electronics development kits, all kind of sensors, cameras, etc, which helps student to conduct state of the art interdisciplinary research in the area of robotics.

Department of Mechanical Engineering

Engineering Mechanics Lab

Objective of the lab is to provide practical fundamental knowledge of force system and its effect on the behaviour of the bodies that may be in dynamic or in static state. It includes the equilibrium of different structures like beams, frames, truss etc and the force transfer mechanism in the different components of a body under given loading condition.

Manufacturing Machines Lab

In this lab, students learn to design and analyse manufacturing products. Hands on experience is provided to the students on various machines such as Lathe, Drilling, Milling, Grinding, Shaping etc., through which student can understand the basic concepts of product design and manufacturing.

Kinematics of Machines Lab

In Kinematics of machines lab, knowledge about the link types, kinematic pairs, their classification and degrees of freedom is studied. Velocity of mechanisms in four bar mechanism, slider crank mechanism and quick return mechanism is studied.

 

Mechanics of Solids and Fluids Lab

The objective of the lab is to make the students understand the concept of stress and strain in different types of structure/machine under different loading conditions. The course also covers the simple and compound stresses due to forces, stresses and deflection in beams due to bending, torsion in circular section, strain energy, different theories of failure and stress in thin cylinder thick cylinder and spheres due to external and internal pressure.

In Fluid Mechanics lab, students understand the properties of fluids, pressure measurement devices, hydraulic forces on surfaces, bouncy and flotation in fluids, kinematics and static behaviour of fluids, dimension and model analysis, laminar and turbulent flow, flow through various equipment’s in the lab.

 

Dynamics of Machines Lab

In this lab, student learns the static force analysis and inertia force analysis. It includes the planer mechanisms, free body diagrams and dynamic force analysis.

Also, the force calculation on the various moving parts is calculated.

Heat Transfer Lab

In this lab course student understands the behaviour of thermal systems. To provide the basic tools that are used in thermal system design. To expose students to heat transfer applications in industry.

Metrology Lab

The main objective of this lab is to give the student: a basic understanding of the physical loss governing metrology and tolerance design. Gain and appreciation for the capabilities and applications of metrology through hands on experiences.

Machine Design – I Lab

The objective of this lab is to help students apply concepts learned in the mechanics, structure, material and manufacturing courses. This course offers working knowledge in the use of proper failure theories under steady and variable loading, design of mechanical elements, such as shaft, coupling, power screws, detachable, permanent and welded connections using the various design and analysis software’s.

Machine Design – II Lab

The lab aims at developing concepts as to how to analyse mechanical systems and select proper machine elements (bearing, gears, belts, chains). It prepares the students to design machine element by specifying their type, geometry, material and how to integrate these elements to build a mechanical system.

 

Mechatronics Lab

Mechatronics is basically combination of mechanical and electronics engineering. With growing demands of automation of different mechanical operation this subject fulfils the needs. Main objective of this course is to provide knowledge of different combinations of mechanical (hydraulic and pneumatic systems) and electronics processes (PLC, Electro Pneumatic) and various software’s used in it.

Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Lab

The aim of this lab is to provide the students with the understanding of the basic principles of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning such that they could build simple mathematical models representing the conditioned space and its components, used to control environmental conditions.

The application of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics includes an understanding of refrigerants and refrigeration systems, psychometrics, human comfort and air quality, calculation of heating and cooling loads, and heat and mass transfer processes and associated R & AC components and systems.

Civil Engineering Infrastructure

 

Department of Civil Engineering has following full-fledged major laboratories which can support independent research internships for the budding graduate students:

All the laboratories are equipped with advanced equipment for imparting practical training to the students. Each student can perform the tests individually and enjoy the process of learning

Material testing lab

In Material testing lab, various types of building materials are tested to understand the physical and engineering properties and behaviour of materials.

Main features of Material testing lab are compression and flexural testing machines, research-oriented extensometer for lateral extension and non-destructive test equipment such as Ultrasonic pulse velocity and rebound hammer.

 

Geotechnical Engineering lab

Geotechnical engineering laboratory houses Triaxial and direct shear test equipment as well as routine equipment required to characterize the physical and engineering properties of soils.

Surveying

For any Civil Engineering project, Surveying is the first requirement to have a plan/map of the area which requires collection of information and data about the terrain as well as the objects present in the area by taking necessary measurements using different types of instruments.

Surveying lab has the latest Total station equipment which measures the angles and distances very accurately and quickly apart from other equipment

Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines Lab

In Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines Lab, the study of flow of water through pipes for various application areas such as water supply, sewerage system, irrigation systems, channels and pumps and turbines are carried out. The lab is equipped with orifices, venturi meters, Bernoulli’s theorem apparatus, head loss measuring apparatus apart from Pelton, Francis and centrifugal turbines.

Transportation Engineering Lab

Transportation Engineering lab consists of equipment used in the testing of bituminous materials such as viscosity, ductility and plasticity and other devices for pavement testing of bitumen and aggregates.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering

Computer Lab

Database Management System Lab

The database management system lab is highly configured computer systems installed with software like Oracle Server, MySQL. This lab is used to perform and execute the queries related to Database.

C/C++ Programming Lab

Computer lab consist of dual operating system environment where the students can execute their program by using structured approach programming and object-oriented programming language for the real time problem. Turbo C editor is currently used by the lab.

Java Programming Lab

Departmental Computer Labs consist of Licensed Software under Microsoft campus agreement and MATLAB with Simulink Performance Tools. Students can learn experiments by using java programming language.

Networking Lab

Networking lab is dedicated to perform the practical related to network and client server architecture. Network Simulators like Cisco Packet Tracer and NS3 are installed to provide the platform to the practical.

Data Structure Lab

The lab provides latest platform for Design and Analysis of Algorithms for solving complex problems in the field of computer science and engineering. Students execute all data structure and other algorithm related practical in the lab.

Project Lab

The Project lab is especially dedicated for the students to develop their concept to integrate their theoretical knowledge with practical by making Minor and Major projects. All software related to project is installed in the lab to fulfill the requirements of implementation and development.

All classrooms at Amity campuses are spacious and air-conditioned & most of them are Amphitheatre styled. They provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions. Classrooms at Amity have been designed to bring together analysis with action and are augmented with integrated audio-visual teaching aids for lectures, presentations etc. The ICT Enabled Three Computer Labs are equipped with LCD projectors and graphics cards.

Amity School of Applied Sciences (ASAS) basically runs programs in sciences and has fully functional Chemistry and Physics labs up to graduate as well as post graduate level along with the lecture rooms. The labs are also equipped for engineering as well as biotechnology students. All the labs and classrooms are fully air-conditioned. At Amity classrooms are augmented with integrated audio-visual teaching aids for lectures, presentations etc.

There are well equipped one physics lab, one dark room and one chemistry lab, where we nurture more than 200 students and bringing them to practice and experience the theory part of the syllabus.

Physics Lab

Physics is an empirical science and not a mere collection of mathematical laws. In this sense practical is an appropriate counterpart for the more theoretic and mathematical Physics. The Physics laboratory is the place where the students learn to practice the activities of scientists - asking questions, performing procedures, collecting data, analyzing data, answering questions, and thinking of new questions to explore.

 

The Physics laboratory is well equipped with experiments based on mechanics, optics heat and sound etc., where undergraduate and post graduate students perform experiments. There is separate section called ‘dark room’ where experiments related to light such as Newton’s ring, Fraunhoffer single slit diffraction, wavelength of light using spectrometer can be performed. It is the best place to learn and explore physics.

Chemistry Lab

All the latest and high-quality apparatus and instruments are available in the chemistry to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of the substances, volumetric analysis, colorimetry, organic synthesis, water analysis, soil analysis and to carry out student research work. Distillation unit, Muffle Furness to achieve very high temperature, oven, UV spectrophotometer, pH meter, potentiometer, centrifuge, viscometer, incubator cum shaker, oil bath and many more are the major attraction of chemistry lab.
