The Amity Institute of International Studies (AIIS) offers a dynamic and enriching calendar of academic and cultural events throughout the year, aimed at fostering holistic student development, global awareness, and intellectual engagement. The institute believes in nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and intercultural competence through diverse platforms that go beyond traditional classroom learning.

Academic Enrichment Activities:

AIIS conducts various intellectually stimulating competitions such as poster-making, essay writing, and Silver Tongue, a public speaking event that encourages students to articulate their views on contemporary international affairs with confidence and clarity. These events are designed to develop research, articulation, and creative presentation skills among students.

A wide range of discussion and debate formats form a core part of AIIS’s academic environment. Panel Discussions bring together scholars and practitioners to deliberate on complex international issues from multiple perspectives. IR Dialogue offers a platform for in-depth academic conversations between faculty and students, encouraging the exchange of ideas on global and regional developments. D-Square, the institute’s unique debate forum, emphasises spontaneous thinking and structured argumentation, enhancing analytical and rhetorical capabilities.

AIIS Student Clubs:

The institute’s student-led clubs offer focused engagement with different regions and emerging areas of international studies.

  • Reflections of Europe explores European politics, history, and institutions.
  • Negotiis Americas delves into diplomatic, cultural, and political issues across North and South America.
  • Mysteries of Africa investigates the continent’s vast socio-political and economic diversity.
  • Indo-Pacific Waves engages with the evolving geopolitics and maritime dynamics of the Indo-Pacific.
  • Politics of Technology examines the intersection of international relations and emerging technologies like AI, cyber-security, and digital governance.

These clubs regularly organise interactive sessions, quizzes, cultural showcases, and simulations, allowing students to explore specific areas of interest in a collaborative and engaging manner.

Celebration of Special Days and Cultural Events:

AIIS proudly commemorates important global and cultural days to foster inclusivity and awareness. Events such as International Mother Language Day, Earth Day, Women Day and Independence Day are observed with meaningful activities like discussions, exhibitions, and creative performances. Traditional Indian festivals like Diwali, Onam are celebrated with enthusiasm, fostering cultural unity and vibrant community participation. Social events such as the Freshers’ Welcome and Farewell mark important milestones in student life and contribute to the warm, collegial environment at the institute.

University-Wide Participation:

AIIS students actively participate in Amity University’s flagship events, such as Sangathan, the annual sports month that promotes health, fitness, and team spirit through inter-departmental competitions. Another key highlight is the Amity Youth Festival (AYF), a multidisciplinary celebration of talent, innovation, and cultural diversity, where AIIS students contribute enthusiastically through performances, exhibitions, and academic events.

Through this vibrant blend of academic rigour, cultural celebration, and student engagement, AIIS cultivates a community of informed, confident, and globally aware individuals ready to make meaningful contributions to the field of international studies and beyond.
