Amity University Mumbai Organizes Hands-On Workshop On Innovative 3D Printing Technology And Applications

 The in-campus hands-on workshop on “Innovative 3D Printing Technology and Applications” was organized jointly by Amity School of Engineering & Technology and Amity Institute of Biotechnology under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council, Amity University Mumbai to create awareness and also give live practical Hands-On Experience about the 3D Printing technology, amongst teaching faculties and research students of various fields like Engineering, Biotechnology, Fine Arts, Architecture, Fashion Technology, etc.

The workshop was spread over three days, wherein the participants were introduced to this new and emerging 3D Printing technology. After introduction to different 3D Printers available in the market along with different technologies, materials, capabilities and applications, they were introduced to the 3D Modelling Software – Tinkercad and Slicing Software - CURA. They also obtained Hands-On experience on these two softwares.
 
Second day was dedicated to Hands-On experience on Industrial Grade 3D Printer available in Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Mumbai. Later during the same they were exposed to the applications of 3D Printers in Biotechnology and Food industry.
 
The expert speakers included Dr. Guruprasad Rao, Director, Imaginarium, Dr. Dattaraya Parle, University of Sheffield, Dr. Gopinathan Janarthanan, Associate Research Scientist, ECO World Pharma Co. Ltd, Republic of Korea., Dr. Jeyan Arthur Moses, National Institute of Food Technology, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Mr. Jyothikumar Mandava, Tata Technologies and Prof. Ameya More, Amity University Mumbai.
18 participants including teaching faculties and students from various institutes spread across India and belonging to various fields like Engineering, Biotechnology, Fine Arts, Architecture, Fashion Technology, benefitted from this workshop.
