A group of students of B. Tech. (Civil Engineering) from Amity School of Engineering and Technology (ASET) designed a model on ‘Endless Runway’. It is a circular runway that facilitates take-off and landing of aircraft on this circular plane. This makes it possible to fly in from or out to any direction. The runway’s inner radius (approx. 1.5km) and the total runway length (about 10km) is long enough to operate several aircraft simultaneously on this runway. The holistic runway eliminates the friction coefficient and prevents the skidding of planes.
To make the runway free from water logging, the rain water harvesting system is adopted in designing airport. The harvested water can be used for various purposes in airport such as drinking, cleaning, washing, gardening etc. This makes the airport premises a green building zone.
