Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior has organized a National Technology Day 2023 Program for Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) MHRD ranking. The program was held at Seminar Hall, C-Block dated 1st June 2023 (Thursday)
Ø This program was coordinated by Dr Naveen Sharma, Dr Nimisha Jain, Ms. Ankita Kishore and Mr. Narendra Goel. In this program, B Pharm students from all semesters and all AIP faculties actively participated. This programme was successfully planned and organized with the coordination of Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohana Lakshmi, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University MP.
Ø The Objectives of the program were
1. To celebrate National Technology Day, 2023.
2. To motivate the students to identify the digital technologies that are being utilised in the pharma sector nowadays by conducting an essay competition.
3. To provide students with an opportunity to explore the future of pharmacy in the next few years by involving them in a speech competition.
4. To sensitize students about different aspects of jobs and entrepreneurship in pharmacy by giving them brainstorming exercises in the form of a debate competition.
Ø On this auspicious occasion, we invited our guest of honour Prof. (Dr) S. C. Mehta (retired) from the Department of Pharmacology, Gajra Raja Medical College, Gwalior (M.P.)
Ø Dr. S. Mohana Lakshmi (Director AIP), welcomed our guest of honour Dr. S. C. Mehta, HODs, faculty members and students. She briefed our audiences about National Technology Day addressed students why we celebrate this day as National Technology Day and discussed the theme. She also motivated the students to participate in the different events which were organized by AIP.
Ø The theme created for this celebration was “School to Startups-Igniting Young Minds to Innovate” On this occasion three events were organized:
1. Essay Writing Competition (Topic: Digital Health Technology in Pharmacy)
2. Speech Competition (Topic: What will the future of Pharmacy look like in the next five years?)
3. Debate Competition (Topic: Jobs versus Entrepreneurship in Pharmacy)
Ø Professor (Dr.) S C Mehta also gave brief information about the primary objective of National Technology Day is to promote scientific temper and inspire the younger generation to pursue careers in different scientific fields. It serves as an occasion to raise awareness about the importance of technology in addressing societal challenges and fostering economic growth. He also highlighted advancements in diverse domains such as drug discovery and development, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence in the pharma field, From designing and identifying new molecules to target-based drug validation and discoveries, AI can do it all. He said that India has emerged as a global hub for technological innovation, and this day serves as a reminder of the country's potential to become a leader in scientific research and development.
Ø In the different events, students won prizes and certificates They are-
1. In the Essay competition, a total of 24 students participated and the first position was secured by Mr Achlesh Tiwari, (6th semester), and Mr Prabhat Kumar (4th semester) won second prize.
2. In the Debate competition, a total of 15 students participated out of which the first prize was secured by Ms Mishika Singh (6th semester) and the Second prize was won by Ms Vartika Gupta, (4th semester).
3. In the Speech competition, a total of 10 participants were registered out of which the first position was secured by Ms Palak Velankar (4th semester) and the second position was secured by Mr Surya Pratap Singh Sikarwar(2nd Semester).
Ø Apart from these events, an exhibition was also displayed by 4th-semester students, They presented herbal soaps, herbal oil, herbal face masks and herbal tablets, made by them in the AIP laboratory.
Ø At the end of the events, after the declaration of the results, a Vote of thanks was given by Dr Naveen Sharma. We are thankful to our Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor for giving us this opportunity; A special thanks to our guest of honour Prof. (Dr.) S C Mehta for his valuable time and words, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Dr. S. Mohana Lakshmi and other faculty members. A good appreciation was also conveyed for the volunteers' efforts and contributions to complete this activity.
Program Outcomes:
Ø These events provided our students to think about the technologies that are helping us in the field of Pharmacy in this technical era. Students explored a lot for participating in these events and got to know how the medical field is also adopting technologies and making the task easier and less tedious. They have compared all the favourable and unfavourable aspects of jobs in the field of Pharmacy, which will be surely helpful for them in choosing their career fields soon. They identified various sectors of pharmacy in which they can do jobs and get wide opportunities to explore extended domains of our Pharmacy profession.
