1) Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior organized a World Entrepreneurs’ Daycelebration on Entrepreneurship and Industrial Exposure in India on 22nd August 2023. This program is organised by the Institution’s Innovation Council of Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior. The inspiration behind taking up this topic for the program is the 4th quarter activities of IIC 5.0, the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Council established by the Government of India.
2) This program was coordinated by Dr. Naveen Sharma, Dr. Jovita Kanoujia, Dr. Nimisha Jain, Ms. Ankita Kishore, and Mr. Arvind Singh Jadon. In this program, B. Pharm students from all semesters and all AIP faculties actively participated. This program was successfully planned and organized with the coordination of Prof. (Dr.) S. Mohana Lakshmi, Director, Amity Institute of Pharmacy, Amity University MP.
3) The Objectives of the program were
a. To celebrate World Entrepreneurship Day, 2023.
b. To encourage students to think about entrepreneurship as a feasible career option by increasing their understanding of the role that entrepreneurship plays in fostering economic growth.
c. To inspire potential entrepreneurs through sharing success stories, emphasizing the accomplishments of entrepreneurs from varied origins, and emphasizing their societal effect.
d. To create networking opportunities for entrepreneurs to interact, exchange experiences, and form collaborative partnerships that can lead to innovation and development.
4) Dr S. Mohana Lakshmi (Director AIP), welcomed our guest speaker Mr. Anup Choubey, Project Head, AISECT, Gwalior, Mr. Udyan Lahariya, Business Founder GBC, Gwalior, HODs, faculty members, and students. Shebriefed our audiences about World Entrepreneurship Day by discussing the theme and encouraging them to actively participate in the celebration.
5) Mr. Anup Choubey and Mr. Udyan Lahariya were the distinguished guest speakers for this event. Mr. Anup Choubey completed a Master of Science in Physics-electronic and Radio Physics from SOS Jiwaji University in 1981. He did a Master of Business Administration in human resources and marketing from Guru Ghasidas University Bilaspur Chhattisgarh. He held the post of General Manager in the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IIDC) at Jabalpur, Malanpur and Morena. He was also appointed as a General Manager Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Gwalior, department of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). Presently he is associated with the All Indian Society for Electronics and Computer Technology (AISECT LTD) as a project head. Mr. Udyan Lahariya is currently a Business Founder of GBC, Gwalior, a company that deals with the Heavy Fabrication Industry, Railway Projects and Power Projects. He has completed his degree in Bachelor of Technology from MPCT Gwalior. He has completed his post-graduation Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. His work experiences included 1 year, part-time working in 99 Cent Store at Cardiff, 1.5 years experience with Tesco Sales United Kingdom, and now sir is working as a successful Businessman and running his own company named GBC, Gwalior, handling with Heavy Fabrication Industry, Railway Projects and Power Projects.
6) One of the experts is renowned in the field of service providers for new startups through the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IIDC) and the Department of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and the second one is a young entrepreneur and job provider.
7) The guests are recommended by Dr. Naveen Sharma, Professor in Pharmacology, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Gwalior.
8) The faculty members and students (250 members) of Amity Institute of Pharmacy attended and more than 80 students participated in the different activities.
9) The take-home points of the program are:
- Entrepreneurship drives the growth and diversification of the economy and contributes to the creation of wealth. Role of entrepreneurship in economic development. Encourages innovation by bringing new ideas, products, and services to the market. Contributes to social change by developing products or services that reduce people’s dependence on outdated technologies.
- Entrepreneurship not only provides large-scale employment and ways to generate income, but it also has the potential to improve the quality of individual life by developing products and services that are affordable, safe to use, and add value to their lives. Entrepreneurship also introduces new products and services that remove the scarcity of essential commodities.
- Entrepreneurship can be a path to economic independence for both the country and the entrepreneur. It reduces the nation’s dependence on imported goods and services and promotes self-reliance.
- By starting new firms and businesses, entrepreneurs play a key role in shaping the economy and creating a more dynamic and diverse business landscape.
7) We have conducted three activities for the students
1. Innovative logo design
2. Speech competition
3. Whizz Shark (Mini Shark Tank)
8) In the innovative logo design competition 39 students participated, and the first position was secured by Ms Shivani (Vth- Semester), the second position was secured by Shubham Agarwal (Vth- Semester), and the third position was secured by Surya Pratap Singh (IIIrd- Semester).
In the speech competition, the topic was “Entrepreneurship: Risk and Benefit”. Each student was provided five minutes to speak on the topic. A total of 15 students participated in the competition. The first position was secured by Ms Ananya Popli (B. Pharm V semester), the second position was secured by Palak Velankar (B. Pharm V semester), and the third position was held by Roshni (B. Pharm III semester).
In the Whizz Shark (Mini Shark Tank) events, students were supposed to present their business ideas with the help of a product/presentation. The students presented their innovative ideas such as a food chain for diabetic patients, handmade jewelry from preserved flowers etc., and Application services. In the event total of seven teams participated and the first position was secured by team 1 (Ms. Ananya Popli and Mr. Saurabh Kumar Benwal), the second position was secured by team 6 (Abhishek Kr, Aman Chauhan, Aman Rajawat, Aayush Bhushan), and third position was secured by team 2 (Roshni, Surya Pratap Singh Sikarwar, Prateek Kr) and team 5 (Sanjeev Kr Mehta, Ritesh, Jaikrishna Kr).
