Amity Institute International Studies (AIIS), Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Noida Campus is organizing the 7th Edition of its 03 Days International Conference, “VIJIGISHU-2026” on the theme, “Southeast Asia and the Global South: Evolving Security, Sustainability, and Strategic Dynamics in a Multipolar World” in collaboration with Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and MGIMO University (Russia) from 16th to 18th September 2026.

Delivering the Keynote Address during the Inaugural Session, Amb. Gurjit Singh, Former Ambassador of India to Germany, Indonesia, Ethiopia, ASEAN and the African Union, averred, “India is an important bridge between ASEAN and the Global South. The biggest success of BRICS was that it emerged as a vehicle for the Global South, providing a platform for countries of the developing world to articulate their shared concerns and aspirations. Students must study the functional aspects of the Global South and understand how countries can collaborate through regional and multilateral platforms to address common challenges, promote development and strengthen their collective voice in global affairs. It is important for young people to understand not just the geopolitics of the Global South, but also the economic, institutional and strategic mechanisms through which this cooperation works.”

Addressing the students, Dr. Suzanna Adamyants, Associate Professor, Faculty of Governance and Politics, MGIMO University, Russia, opined, “India shares a harmonious and strong relationship with Russia. The world is one family, and we must live together peacefully, in harmony. Such conferences show Amity’s commitment towards creating a peaceful world order and nurturing the students as true global citizens.”

Sharing his views on the occasion, Guest of Honour, Shri Suresh Singh Bhadoria, Chairman, Index Group and Malwanchal University, noted,It is very important for the students to learn about what is happening around the world, in different regions. The Global South is emerging as an important force in shaping conversations around economic growth, sustainable development, strategic cooperation and global governance. Conferences such as these provide our students with an opportunity to interact with distinguished experts, broaden their perspectives and appreciate India’s evolving role in the Global South.”

Emphasizing upon the significance of the Conference, Dr. Sripathi Narayanan, Foreign and Security Policy Analyst, ICWA, stated, “The Conference is being organized by Amity at a very opportune time, when India has just hosted the BRICS Summit, bringing renewed focus on the evolving role of the Global South in shaping the international order. Such platforms provide students with a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and gain a deeper understanding of the geopolitical developments, strategic interests and emerging partnerships shaping the Global South. Students must make the most of this opportunity by listening to the distinguished speakers carefully, asking questions and developing a nuanced understanding of the changing geopolitical scenario and India’s growing engagement with the countries of the Global South.”
